Anyone else have an unusually large number of hummingbirds this year?

Out in the garden the other year

It's kind of funny when some people stop over our house now as we put a couple of feeders outside the front door so my wife can sit on the porch for tea and watch them.

Generally get a bunch, and when people are walking to our front door they'll jump when they here the hummingbirds come in to feed (per the last pic I posted, which isn't to far from the front door of the house).

We have only had a few birds of that color. It's amazing the color variations in birds.

I thought I saw a hummingbird fly around the area outside my breakfast room window Saturday morning. So yesterday I cleaned up a feeder and made up some liquid. And today one came to visit. In past few years we only get maybe 4 - 5 birds. So we will wait to see how many we get this year.

We have had one for a week or more. I don't know there is more then the one though. Hard to tell unless different species.

This a migration map for this year 2025. Scroll down just a little and it shows the birds in Kentucky and WV today. You can enlarge the map and check reported sightings in your area. Wife will put a feeder out maybe tomorrow and then more as the season progresses.

Even if things are slow for you, keep the feeders clean and fresh. HB's eat a ton of bugs early on but do your part and the birds will come. Some years more or less than others since cycles ebb and flow.

They are close to us. We put up one feeder a little early because we have seen lone birds--scouts?--show up before the others. They seem to arrive with the timing of small bugs.

We're in South Central KY. We put up two feeders last week but no customers yet that we're aware of. Should be any day now though.

As soon as I see the first birds. I put screens up in front of my garage doors. I don't garage my vehicles so I can easily get by the screen to do something.

Getting close to spring peak season here, going through about 3/4 of a quart a day.
