I agree. The GMC concept looks like it has alot more testostrium. My last truck was a GMC. I sold it when leaving Wentzville,MO Assembly. I've been getting by with my Wrangler as a DD. The only downside with the Jeep is towing capacity (only 3500lbs). The off-road capability is unmatchable and the fun factor is definately there. I've never went this long without a GM truck but I'll wait to see what the next gen truck actually looks like.

Both of those trucks look like rebranded Toyotas to me - and in Flint Toyota is just as bad as a swear word, not really but everyone drives American because all that's left of our economy depends on the auto industry. I'm a long time GM driver, and really love the Duramax/Allison way more than any other truck - best combo IMO. But with those pictures I will be on a Dodge/Ford in my next truck. Another market I really miss GM being in is the medium duty range. I have a GMC 4500 as you can see from my avatar and would like them to get back in the game and give a little competition to Ford and Navistar - that said the new Ford medium duty's are really top of the line in the features they offer - just like to see a little competition. With all of that said I am almost positive GM wouldn't let this crappy of a vehicle go through - I've put up with bad but this is worse.

Mabe the new bodtstyle will lean toward the GMC All-Terrain concept we saw earlier this year. Does this look better to everyone? GMC Sierra All Terrain HD Concept being considered for production Like I said in an earlier post, these are just concepts. GM has not released final production specs to any of us at the assembly plant. All I know is we have several weeks of scheduled down time this comming year for retooling. This is for sure going to be a major overhaul on bodystyle. I think we will see a more aerodynamic truck from GM for better gas milage.

Looks more like a truck I would consider.

I was upset also when GM dropped their medium duty's. My last GMC was an 06 4500 w LLY Duramax and Allison w PTO. It was built in Flint and had a Monroe flatbed.

I am amazed we made it 2 pages before the govt motors quote made it in. Concept is ugly. I hope they do not follow ford. At least not the way of turbos on a gas engine. I think sometimes the cost of one turbo replacement much less 2 is overlooked.

What does a Turbo cost for these things? I was told the same thing about the Turbo on my dozer. It was $500 for a new or $400 to have the old one rebuilt.

Not sure but its funny to me that the guys are afraid of a Turbo on a gas engine. Most every aircraft engine 300 HP or more is turbo charged, and 99% of the diesel trucks out there running the road is also.

Maybe I am lucky but I have owned lots of Turbo Charged stuff and not a single issue with any that were Turbo related. Yes, 30 years ago it was different but with this new stuff and new synthetic oils is a non issue.

Your experiences are not a majority. There are 6 Fords, one 7.3, 4 6.0 and 1 6.4 in the local diesel shop getting turbos right now. There are also 2 dodges and 1 dmax. Most of these trucks are fleet service and have some miles (the lowest 34,000, highest 367,000) on them. He is also responsible for the maintenance on these trucks and runs rottela full syn in them, changing every 7k miles. I am not afraid of it by any means. I just do not see the necessity when I can give up 1-2 mpgs empty and get the same power and not have the concern of replacing expensive turbos. The mpgs towing are a wash. The mpg #'s in the lower to mid 20s being reported are cruising at 60mph. I cannot name a single aquantance that does this on any regular basis. If you recall, I posted here that I spent a weekend in a TT Ford truck hauling cattle and actually had a good experience. I just do not feel, with the cost of trucks today, another excessive expense needs to be tacked on when the truck is out of warranty, especially when naturally aspirated motors, such as GM's 6.2, make more power and are much easier for the basic mechanic to work on.
