I just bought this year. $300 for the mower and then I put another $150 in parts into it to get it running good.
You will find the trailer types are a lot cheaper than the mounted as a lot of people think they are not as manueverable. This is true to some extent but I wanted the trailer type for easier hooking up and not having the side load on the tractor on the slope.
The hay farmers have gone to haybines and discbines and so these are unwanted. i missed one on an auction earlier this spring that went for $175 and was in running condition. I had a chance at a little newer one in running condition for $500 so they are around for this price.
While I was at it today I mowed around the treelines where the underbrush and saplings keep wanting to expand outward. This mower also does a nice job reaching under those branches and cutting off all that undergrowth so my treelines will not keep expanding anymore. Sapling sunder 1" are no issue at all and I have cut a few that are bigger than that.
