Autozone.....Really..??

No more Auto Zone for me either! If they have a "no guns in the store by employees", then they better have one for " No robbers with guns in the store policy" and provide security. No gun policy, means "rob us" as far as I'm concerned.

Corporate "zero tolerance" craziness aside, my local AutoZone is run by a couple of people who seem to be screaming at each other every time I go there. Then an AdvanceAuto opened nearby and my trips for parts and accessories got much more peaceful.

Maybe Devin McLean could get a job in law enforcement. Looks like he has what it takes and he has been in the military.

Add me to the Autozone last resort. I sent them a comment on their website also. I will report if I get a comment back.

I too am appalled at the firing of the employee. A lot of businesses, not just Auto Zone have such policies. One store manager (not an Auto Zone) in Florida which has a good base of concealed carrying of weapons and a stand your ground law told me he has nightmares about gun fire erupting in his store.

He advised his store is a large cash generator and just any night he expected a robbery. He advised store policy was not to resist, try not to do anything to excite the robber and give the robber what they ask for.

He advised his great worry is a concealed carry will see the robbery in progress, and shoot at the robber, missing the robber and killing Mrs. X who was in the store shopping. The robber then opens fire killing the concealed carry shooter and a couple of other shoppers.

Then the civil suits would start over the deaths and the store not providing a safe “Shopping Environment” and the store manager just could not see how the store could win.

His reasoning logic was the robber would probably be apprehended, charged with murder and robbery but lacking two nickels too rub together, the store would be the one sued when civil suits started being filed.

Well, I'm done with Autozone, and I'll be sending them a message explaining why.

I will express my disagreement with Autozone on their website, but I can't turn my back on the employees in the local store who have given me superb service each time I entered their store. The problem with boycott is it hurts the employees in local stores. However, if Autozone persists and doesn't alter their decision for Mr. McLean, as consumers we have to do something. I think expressing discontent and threatening boycott is a good first step.

I too have many choices for auto parts within a short distance.......this definetly steers me away with how they can and will treat their employees

Sometimes corporate America doesn't consider employees and customers as important as the lawyers.....

I don't have a problem with the no gun policy. It NORMALLY makes sense. Just like the "don't resist the robber", but when a life is at risk, all bets are off. The guy puts himself in harms way for another soul. All I can say from one ex soldier to another is THANK YOU. I never shopped at AZ before but I wont be there now, that's for sure.
