Bo

I knew your logs were large, but the stove picture really puts it into perspective. Holy cow - huge logs!!!

Hey Bo,
I saw you posting on MotorSeven's log cabin build, so I found your's and just finished reading all of your's up to date. Awesome build! Those are enormous logs, reminds of Lincoln Logs from when I was a kid, well a kid in linear years anyway

Your patience is miraculous. I can not believe a Western building department could be so incompetent and outright pathetic, no one should have to go through what you have had to suffer. It is terrible to think that is where your tax dollars go....

Keep the pics coming, I am looking forward to seeing the finished product!

I like your stove! You got one with the window in it, and it looks like it will warm the whole house on a cold night. One thing is for sure you will get a lot of heat from that flu pipe as well. I made sure that when I installed my flu it had a section of single wall before it went into the ceiling- I live in a single story home. You were able to utilize multiple to scavenge as much heat as possible from your stove. Corner placement was brilliant as it frees up space in your home.

The place is starting to take shape and it shows. I am sure you spent many night's losing sleep over "every aspect" of this project. Those sleepless nights have paid off, and soon you will enjoy the fruits of your labor. You deserve it!!

Thanks again for keeping us (TBN in the loop)- I have felt your frustration, your excitement, and your sorrow... Hang in there as you will enjoy many years in your brand spanking new home, warrantied by the builder!! That sucker is there to stay....

One more thing....

The term, "They don't build'em like they used to"

Does Not- apply to this thread

Which will make them as hot as the stove. What brand of stove is it?
hugs, Brandi

Heat shields are mounted "on the stove" with 1" - 2" long standoffs. The air between the stove and shield is much hotter than the surrounding air, therefore it continually rises due to convection and is replaced with cooler air.

You should be able to lay your hand on the shield and not get burned.
