By the way they said they do not locktite the studs. Do you think I should?
I would never locktite something that I might need to remove for service, even with the blue stuff, but that's just my :2cents:

Locktite isn't permanent. I'm not talking about the nuts. Just the studs. They seem prone to spinning out if you get a sticky nut. It should be extremely rare to have to remove the studs.

Glad to hear everything worked out well; pretty much in agreement with bp fick and maybe this will save someone else from similar problems.

There are many varieties of thread lockers... never had an issue when using the right one for the application and a few drops strategically placed has kept some very expensive equipment running on schedule with no downside... some say it even makes dis-assembly easier because it limits the effects of corrosion.

I checked my lug nuts about a week ago at 85 hours, should have done it sooner, its been about 11 months. Fronts 100 ft lbs rears 160 ft lbs. all were tight, no movement after the torque wrench "broke over". Never seen locktite on lug nuts, The ones on my old B7500 did loosen up once. Thats how I know about a funny creaking sound when moving:eek:
Oops.. This is how we learn things. Glad Kubota stepped up. Darn nice of them, when it wasn't even their fault. Keep on tractoring!

For the umpteenth time I never said locktite on the LUG NUTS. The friggin STUDS fell out !!! There is no stop on them either, they are just threaded rods end to end. I've never seen locktite on lug nuts either but I have seen in quite often on studs.

The exact same thing happened to me on my B7610. I was using the box blade and went to back up and suddenly looked down and the right rear wheel was at a 45 degree angle. I jumped off the machine and 5 of the 6 studs were gone and only one stud and nut were keeping the wheel on the hub.

I ended up spending $160 to have the parts sent overnight from two separate locations (overnight Saturday delivery at $50 a shipment). It was the Friday before Memorial day weekend and I had a ton of work planned so I was screwed. Not to mention my tractor was sitting there like a lame duck in the middle of my yard.

I had the tractor serviced about 6 months prior and I only had about 30 hours on the machine since the service. To make a long story short I am convinced that the service tech did not properly tighten the lug nuts on that wheel. I have had the machine now for 5 years and never had a problem with a loose lug. When I checked the other 3 wheels the lugs were tight as can be. I just can't see how all 6 lugs fell off one wheel and not a single other lug was loose on any other wheel.

I also can't believe that I did not feel this...I have found 4 of the 6 missing lugs under where I was box blading. I suspect that I was running with the bucket and box blade down and it was helping stabilize the tractor and I think the last 4 lugs must have fallen out in one or two short passes.

Needless to say I am pissed with the dealership but I suspect I am screwed and just out $160.

I think folks should definitely check the lugs after delivery and probably a few hours in after initial delivery or after service done.

I really feel if I had just run 50 hr's straight on it the first summer the same thing would of still happened at about the same # of hours. Just a hunch.

I had some loose lugnuts like the OP and as soon as I had it fixed, blue locktite went on. I still check them like a good boy. at least until I sure feel nothing ever changes for a couple years.
I used blue locktite as a pipefitter for 25 years in all kinds of areas. Pipe sealing, bolt holding and so on. It's the best stuff since sliced bread and if I want it apart later, turn it apart. Never a problem. If you have a potential problem area coat the threads with 242 and hopefully it will never vibrate loose. If you really want it to hold use the red stuff, but those are still able to come apart, but not as easy.
If I knew then what I know now, I would have locktited the studs as soon as I got the tractor home. They certainly do work loose from hard use.

As long as you are going to keep an eye on them then the locktight is not really needed. I'm glad to see that Kubota stepped up. With more choices out there Kubota should be willing to take care of repeat buyers. A few bucks out of pocket for them will most likely result in some good praise from a satisfied customer and a real good chance at another sale down the road. Some of these dealers who go on the defensive right off just don't think long term in my opinion.
