Hi I have been lurking on this board for quite a while.
After months of thinking about it, I am finally ready to buy a tractor (my first if you don't count a lawn tractor!), for my 9 acre spread in the Black Forest area of Colorado Springs. the lot is mostly flat with some gently rolling slopes in the woods. I have about 4 acres of woods, 4 acres of meadows, and the rest is the very long gravel driveway. The only uses I envisage for the tractor are removing dead wood and vegetation from the woods (it has never been done), mowing the meadows, grading and snow removal on the driveway.
I could only find three tractor dealers within 60 miles, two locations for the same Deere dealer, and one for Kubota. I tried the John Deere 2305, 2320, and 2520. I liked the Kubota better, except for the rocking HST pedal - I preferred the two pedal arrangments of the Deere. The tractor I felt most comfortable on was the Kubota 2320 - the dealer had no B2620 for me to try.
So I am down to two tractors, both with HST the Kubota B2320 or the Kubota 2630, both with LA304 leader, 48 Rotary cutter, 60 rear blade, and tires filled. I assume there will be little difference in "feel" between the B2320 and the B2620.
Prices out of the door (meaning including taxes and everything) I have been quoted are $15,160 for the B2320 and $16,575 for the B2620.
Three questions: I like the size of the B2320 for the woods, and as a first tractor it feels very comfortable, but the B2620 is barely larger Is it worth the price difference?
There is only about $1000 difference between the Kubota 2620 and the John Deere 2320 with the same implements - any reason why I should reconsider and look again at the John Deere? The John Deere is the more expensive one. both Kubota and John Deere dealers have been in Business for something like 40 years.
The implements (including the filled tires, I was originally going for weights) are the suggestions from the dealer. He said I could use the FEL and the back blade to clear the snow. Any suggestions before I take the plunge?
