I got it............rent it for a few days with the option of your few days rent goes towards the purchase if you decide to buy.Do that and really put it through its paces to see if it works OK. Beleive me,if it works OK
(and it should with that low of hours)it should handle anything the average guy can throw at it.Mine does.
If they dont agree to this.......BACK OFF IN A HURRY.

Still waiting on further info and pictures. Don't need to drive 2 1/2hrs to have the guy I need to speak with not around or to see it is more weathered than explained. I do have a question regarding size of implements. I know it is a 19.5hp pto and would like to know what size brushhog you guys are running behind them. I know the 5pto per foot but is that too small behind the B26? Do any of you run 5 footers with good results? I ask because of the hunting land we cut trails through. It does become tall grass and we do have 1-2 in saplings and brush. What size box blade (5 foot) could you get by with a 6 foot or is that way too big? (Have 1 available to borrow). Tiller size? Needed for food plots. Anybody pulling a plow and if so what size seems to work. I can read and look all I want but nothing beats first hand experience:thumbsup:

Digger I do like that idea but with a 2 1/2hr drive I may wait to see it in person and if any red flags pop up during my inspection I will use that approach.:D On that note anything in particular I should be on the lookout for on the B26 inspection?

As part of the deal, see if they will service the tractor. Change all filters, fluids, etc. Fill the rear tires for you and provide any missing 3 pt. arms, buckles, etc. If there is some fading, have them throw in a quart of Bright Orange II and the Blue/Gray paint for the frame/bucket. If decals are scratched, missing, they can also throw in a set of those.

Oh, and don't forget to ask for a free Kubota baseball cap.

I bought a B26 with 313 hours on it almost three years ago and I haven't regretted my decision one bit. I'm in Canada so I can't really give you a price comparison.

The 3 PT bits and bobs are stored on either side of the frame just below the driver's compartment. Unless you know what to look for, they really don't jump out at you. My B26 was also a rental and the 3 PT parts had never been used, nor had the BH ever been taken off. I took the 3 PT pieces off, cleaned and lubricated them and now store them in the summer (I only use them for my rear mounted snowblower) rather than putting them back on the tractor to be exposed to dirt and water all summer.

If you do go ahead and buy the tractor I suggest you take the BH off, lubricate the mounting pins and then re-install the BH. The BH comes off in about 5 minutes and only takes a bit longer to re-install. As I said, mine hadn't come off, and at 313 hours was a bit..ch  to get off. I had to pound on one of the mounting pins till it finally came loose. Well lubricated every year (they don't have any grease nipples) they should slide on and off like a charm.

Just a word of caution. If the tractor does not have the 3pt hitch parts they will run close to $1k from Kubota. As the owner of a B21 and a L39 you can tell I would have nothing but good to say about the Kubota TLB's.

A 54" bush hog will cover the tire tracks and is about as much as I'd want with 19 PTO hp. Woods makes one in this size, might be other companies as well. A 5 foot bush hog is far more common, and I have seen some on B26's, but I think that would be pushing it for any type of heavy cutting.

5' box blade would be about ideal, that's what I use on my B3200 and it handles it well. 6' is too big for anything but very light work.

Good luck on your purchase. I don't have a B26, but I've spent many hours running them for my business. Great little machines.

Maybe he should ask for a 10 year warrantee too. The man is getting a B26 with 87 hrs, for less then $23,000. He should take it and run. Actually one of the other posters had the best idea, rent it for a few days, and if you are happy with it and decide to buy it, have them take the rental fee off the purchase price. You can't ask for more then that, especially at that price.

As far as the rear mower, I can't help you with that, never had one. The machine itself with the BH is a little pit bull, and you won't regret buying it. You can't compare it to the other B class tractors. The B26 is in a class of its own, that's why the rental yards buy them. Tough little machine. Keep us posted and good luck.

I paid $500 for mine from Messicks, not sure if I spelled that right. I will check and get back to you. It was not an after market part either.
