Got a dumb question. I have a B2601. The three-point hitch lift only seems to engage when the lever is in top of its range (7-8). I've had it for a couple of years and I don't remember it having that much 'slop'. I've got a box blade on it now, but I seem to remember it doing it with the flail mower, too. Before I start tearing things apart, thought I'd ask here if this is just a function of the weight of the implements or if there is something I can adjust.

Sorry if this has been asked before but I did several searches with no happiness.

Not that I'm aware of other than the hitch lever itself.

"There is a lot of contradictory information about choosing optimal paired holes to pin tractor/inboard end of the top link to the tractor.

The top hole gives the least elevation change of the tail wheel, but better maintains parallelism with the ground.

An earth turning plow ought to be in one of the upper holes, so it remains at a proper working angle, regardless of its depth.

The bottom hole provides the greatest elevation change of the "tail wheel" of my "implement", but it also the greatest angular change relative to the plane of the ground.

The bottom hole is best for something like a landscape rake where you might want to lift it up and out of the way, perhaps with a little more angle so trash drops off the tines."


Perhaps moving the inboard end of your Top Link to the lowest set of paired pin holes will improve your adjustment.

Looking at the manual for your model, it does not seem to have a draft control (could not remember what it was called before).

The only thing that is odd about your tractor is that your power steering shares the hydraulic system with your threepoint. There was a note about how to drain the air out of the system via the power steering if the threepoint stops working.

Might be easiest to start with that method before pulling things apart.
