( since you are already travelling somewhat, dealer shopping, I would check out Lashley's down near Seneca Lake (SE of Cambridge). They also have a store on the north side of Zanesville. When I was Kubota shopping, these guys couldn't be beat! Best prices, great service and they delivered to just about anywhere. )

I called and got a phone quote from them - they were within $100 of the quote I got from the dealer I ended up going with. I talked to Glenn (?) Lashley - seemed like a very nice guy.

( My second choice for the purchase would have been Umkeffer's in Minerva / Massillon (probably a little closer to you). Good luck and have fun shopping around )

I drove by their Massillon location one Saturday on the way back from another dealer down in Millersburg (Moores ?) Umkeffer's was closed, but the Massillon location seemed very small with not alot of inventory onhand.

On Friday we drove up to the dealer's and picked up our new B2910. The 130 mile trip back went fine - but we ran into a little problem when we went to unload the tractor - the right rear linkage for the 72 MMM had come detached where it attaches to the 3PH. Neither myself or the guy who hauled the tractor for me caught this initially, before we started to back the tractor off the trailer. The adjustable linkage rod caught on the trailer bed and bent about 90 degrees. Fortunately he did notice it before I got the rear wheels on the ramps. Needless to say I wasn't a happy camper. The only guess I have on it is that somebody at the dealer's failed to bend the cotter pin fully when they installed the mower, which allowed it to drop out of the clevis. It's a real drag to have to work on a new tractor the first day you get it. I bent the rod as close back to straight as I could get it (which was pretty close) and reinstalled it. Still waiting to hear from the dealer on it.

Yesterday, the wife and I mowed the lawn. Normally with the Simplicity 18 Commercial Front Cut (46" deck) this would take just about all day to do our 4 - 5 acres of lawn if we're lucky. With her mowing around the house on the Simplicity and me using the B2910 we finished the lawn in between 3 and 4 hours ..... which for me is pure nirvana. I was thoroughly impressed with the quality of the of the cut of the 72 MMM and was very surprised that B2910 did not tear up the lawn - given it's size and weight (I did remove the FEL before I mowed.) Our lawn is prone to a number of damp spots, where runoff collects and which remain moist (a future project) - even running over these with the B2910 were no problem. I had been very worried that the B2910 would be too large for lawn duties - I just made sure that I ran in 2WD only, didn't turn the front wheels unless I was moving at some speed and didn't try to turn in the minimum turning radius and it worked great.

Glad to hear to got your new B2910. I love mine and still feel I made the right choice, for me. Where'd you end up buying it from? Umkeffer has a huge inventory at their Minerva facility. They just opened the Massillon shop and don't have much there. Did you get the R4 tires? They will definitely chew up the turf in a sharp turn. I learned to do more three-point turns (easy enough with a hydrostat) rather than make the hard, sharp turn. It is easy to forget and turn sharp with that wonderful power steering. The only other problem I have, is occasionally forgetting to release the parking brake - wished they had a dash light or something. The 2910 is amazingly maneuverable in tight quarters and allows me to mow as close to buildings and landscaping as any small lawn mower. Quite an amazing machine, for sure. Wait until you start doing some loader work - you will be delighted at what a workhorse this beast is! Have fun and be careful.

Yeah, it's looking like 2910 will be just the ticket for us here.

We bought from Industrial Equipment of Northern Ohio up in Williston which is just east of Toldeo. John and Kathy Thies the owners were great, only wish they were closer. Umkeffer's Massillion location was the one I drove by and checked out - it is a small shop.

The power steering is great. I went with the R4's too. I avoid the sharp turns either by using a 3 point like you or doing a 240 degree loop to get to the next side to be cut. Our little Simplicity 18 CFC ZTR will rip up the lawn too trying to go to sharp (zero radius) so I'm used to not doing that.

I've done this repeatedly myself - hopefully once I'm more familiar with the machine I'll remember to release it.

I am - started tearing up the old driveway (I couldn't resist) - it's about 4 - 5 inches of old asphalt on an inadequate base which was dealt the final deathblow by our trash hauler running a large two axle packer truck down it to pick up our garbage - put 6 inch deep ruts in it. We got them to start using a smaller truck but the driveway at this point is gone. I'm going to relocate the driveway to a better area - on a small rise that should have better drainage - this will give me a larger continous area to mow instead of two smaller ones and provide access to another lot we own.

Thanks - yeah, I've already noticed that one has to be very careful with the loader - it would be real easy to tip the tractor if you didn't follow good practice.
