Kubota B2929
I recently purchased an ALO backhoe for my Kubota B2920. I am looking for advice and parts sources for hydraulic hook-up. My tractor currently has a Front End Loader. Any help would be appreciated!

I can't help with your Kubota specifically, but I can say that I just hooked a BH to my MF. I used the "Power-Beyond" coming out of the loader valve. Prior to my interrupting it, the P-B went directly to run the 3pt hitch. If yours is plumbed similarly, it works out pretty well, because having the P-B running the BH disables the 3pt, so you can't accidentally run the arms up and damage stuff... No need for 3pt when the BH is there anyway.

So now flow goes from the loader P-B fitting to a hydraulic coupler at the back of the tractor. Without the BH, that couples to another hose that goes forward to the 3pt hitch, right where the P-B output formerly went. Add one more hose with coupler that allows the BH to return straight to the tank (transmission).

When you hook up the BH, you couple the return hoses, and uncouple the P-B hose from the 3pt hose and couple it to the BH pressure side.
I recommend using one size larger than factory for the pressure to BH hose, as well as the return hose for best flow, which will help the BH move faster by providing slightly less restriction, and hence better flow. The 3pt hose can be standard size and it'll be fine, since you're not really concerned with speed on the 3pt, nor working it hard.

Hope this makes sense... There are a few pictures in my tractor thread if you need some more visuals.

1stDeuce,

Very Helpful! Now I understand. Did you go through the MF dealer to source the parts or were you able to find aftermarket? Was this a kit or various parts?

I put a backhoe on my Kubota B2620. I've been searching for my thread on the plumbing. Can't find it. I bought some fittings from Kubota and had hoses made locally.

I'll keep looking for specifics.

In this thread is shown how to do it. Kubota sells a kit for the hydraulics conversion for the backhoe. I went to the Kubota dealer. Had them bring up the parts diagram for that kit. It shows the 2 parts that connect to the Kubota loader valve. I bought those 2 fittings and a pair of quick disconnects to.match the disconnects on the backhoe then had hosesa decent up locally.

When there is no backhoe on, you connect the them together.

With the backhoe on, leave the 3 pt lever down or it could damage something in the hydraulics.

MF may have had a "kit" at one time, but I don't think it was still available, or it was fairly expensive... I just ordered everything I thought I would need from Surplus Center. I bought the breakaway style quick connects locally, and also some fittings, as I messed up some of the sizing to the loader valve and tractor pump output. (Went by the 3/8" hose size as the size of the SAE fittings, and they were much larger...)

If you are going to order what you need, do take the fittings off the loader and tractor and make sure you're actually getting the correct size... I also try to make all the hoses use female JIC at both ends, and adapters to go to 0-ring or pipe if needed. Almost any place can make a JIC ended hose, but few places around here carry the O-ring (ORB or SAE) hose fittings.
I did use pipe on the return hose, since the tractor and the coupler were pipe, so it made sense there. I doubt that hose will ever fail, and pipe is pretty common too.

The Kubota kit may come with some nice hose mounts though... I have to make some for mine once I get the tractor side of the BH mount on so I can see where they should go for ease of hookup.

I can tell you all the fitting sizes etc. No need to get anything from Kubota.

Lol thanks GP, I'm in the middle of a leaf job now but when I get back home I'll post up what I have.

Does your BH use 3 hoses or 2? Either way the main hookup is the same, I'm working off my phone so editing pictures is a bit of a pain.

First you need to remove the metal power beyond line that comes off the loader valve and and provides fluid to the 3pt.

The red circle is the loader valve side banjo fitting.

The 3pt side of the line is circles in red in the following pic, note it'll be a gray steel line, not the flex line showed in the pic.

The replacment for the loader valve side fitting is a -6jic to #8 SAE 90* fitting,

The 3pt side will need a 3/8 BSPP to -6jic, either std length or extended will work, I used a std length but an extended would fit better but the right size isn't carried by any suppliers by me at the moment.

You will have to determine what length hose will work best bit I would recommend using flat face quick couplers for connecting to the BH.
Recommend 3/8 hoses with -6jic on one end and 3/8 nptm on the other.

You will connect the hose coming out of the loader valve to the IN or pressure side of the BH valve, the OUT/return or power beyond (depending on how your valve is configured) will go from the BH valve to the 3pt.

If you have a 3rd hose for a return to tank, that will "T" into the hose shown with the blue arrow in the first picture.
That can either be cut and have a 5/16 t connected to it or take the fitting out of the trans case and thread a fitting "T" with 2 barbs and a threaded fitting on the 3rd side, I don't have the thread size for the trans case, either method will work.

I'm in the same boat, will try to plumb my B2620 for used BH65. This thread has been extremely helpful. I'm newbie with hydraulics, so all the help is greatly anticipated. The link above for the 3pt side fitting doesn't work, it points to an empty shopping cart, can you please repost ? Also, where can I get suitable hoses, either online or locally, I'm in the Seattle area ? Thanks again for all of your help.

I couldn't link the exact fitting but this has the item number, it is located at Discounthydraulichose.com
Item#9002-06-06
9002-06-06 | 3/8" JIC Male x 3/8" BSPP Male
$4.23
$ 3.98

If you need a standard hose then surplus center has some decent prices, if you need different fitting or length then I use discounthydraulichose.com to make up the hoses, I like the tuf hose, durable and much more flexible then a lot of other hoses, just compare the bend radius. The surplus center hoses are not very flexible btw

Thank you TMGT. My hydraulics seems to be slightly different than what you showed in your pictures.

This picture is what I think is the PB port to the 3pt IMG_20170706_163921.jpg

This picture is what I think is the connection to the 3ptIMG_20170706_164000.jpg

Is this correct ? I understand the backhoe in will connect to the PB port, and the backhoe out will connect to the 3pt, and the existing metal line will be removed, correct so far ?

What is the tractor side connection, is that 3/8" JIC female on both points ?

The second picture, where the the power beyond from the loader valve goes to the 3pt, is of the hose after I had removed the factory steel line, I didn't have any pre pictures.
When I get home I'll try to remember to look at the old steel line and verify that it's the same but I doubt Kubota changed it.
The loader valve side connection is SAE-8, I used a SAE-8 to JIC-6 90* adaptor.
The banjo fittings are eliminated with the new adaptors.

Did you have a chance to look at the original steel line ? I'm pulling a trigger and will pick up the BH65 on Friday, so I need to now sort out the hydraulics. One more question: Which way does the BH65 have the Quick Disconnect (QD) connectors, is the male on the input (line from the loader PB) and female on the output (return to 3pt) or vice versa ? I saw that my local Tractor Supply carries QD adapters, will generic ones work ?

Here is a picture of the original Kubota steel line and banjo fittings I pulled out from my B2620:
IMG_20170713_104751.jpg

The input side (right side on the picture) has a larger, probably 1/2" fitting than the output side, which is 3/8".

Here is a picture of the input side on the tractor without the line:
IMG_20170713_104919.jpg

And here is the output side:
IMG_20170713_104950.jpg

So my plan is to add a new hose with QD male connector to the input side to connect to the BH65 input port, and another hose with QD female connector to the output side, to connect the output from the BH. When the BH is not in use, I just close the loop in the tractor.

Does this sound right ? It would be nice to get a confirmation, I'm picking up the BH65 tomorrow...

Line out of loader valve to BH pressure in, BH return (out) goes to the transmission /3pt (the smaller fitting).

Yes the lines will need to be connected together when the BH is off and make sure to leave the 3pt lever in the down position when the BH is attached.

What is that tractor loader side connection? 1/2" male fitting is too large for that.
