Note hand hewn cut marks on oak tie beam. These tie beams are 14" in diameter.

Now, we're on the ground floor in old milking parlor. Note massive post and beam framework supporting the upper stories. These posts are 14-16 inches in diameter.

This photo shows tree trunk floor beams in natural rounded condition with upper part hand hewn to accommodate second story flooring. All this framework had been white washed at some point in the past.

This completes the photo narrative of my barn renovation project. Some of you may ask why I have done this. I have a love of old things and in historic preservation. They just don't build barns this way anymore. These last two pictures also tell part of the story. When not working on the barns, I walk up my Sound of Music hill to view the Green Mountains of Vermont that you see in the distance. Looking at these vistas is a nice break from the barn project.
