There aren't any. They were all bought up by the end of March and I haven't seen a single restock anywhere since. I mean we're so waiting for clorox wipes.

I stand corrected. There aren't any in stores. Amazon has a bunch in stock.

Great minds find the same Youtube videos... just posted that last night.

That's a great video.

However, when I think of a old beam I think of gray weathered looking wood. I would like to see what his installed product looked like as he didn't show the staining process and that maybe when he gets it to that color.

ps I kinda should not have shared this like with my wife I can feel the work stacking up.

Simulating the cracks in the beam really the authenticity. I also like how they pounded the imprint of a bent nail into the surface (6:47 on this video)

Today I picked up a planer ($45 Chicago electric), some hand tools like an awl and axe, propane torch ($35 HF) and a restorer ($99 craftsman at lowes) with wire brush wheel ($50).

I already had a Dremel ultra saw to make the faux cracks. The real game changer is the wire brushing... really starts to look distressed.

Only one box is made of doug fir which is the one I experimented with distressing first. The other boxes are pine. There was some serious cupping going on so I clamped those overnight and then resorted to adding a block to pull the cupped ends together. Gets the job done. Another photo shows the joint brace on the 20 foot sections.

The doug fir is shown before burning then after burning and a second light wire brush. Ready for stain tomorrow. 20200925_180151.jpeg20200925_180215.jpeg20200925_180211.jpeg20200925_180200.jpeg20200925_165049.jpeg20200925_175736.jpeg

Call Costco every morning at about 7:00 and find out if they had any delivered. When they say yes get a senior citizen friend to get ther at 9 AM for senior hour to get you some. They will be gone before senior hour is over.

Congrats on the house, sounds like the previous owner took care of it?

I致e been all over and, speaking strictly and only of weather, I think you live in the best weather area I致e ever been to.

That is, if you stay close to the water, which you have done, good on ya!

Not everyone wants to live in SoCal but, a bunch do!
