Mowing is when I think, plan & invent!
It's funny how we train our minds over the years, to "plan and invent". I learned on a drafting board, and even when we transitioned to CAD, I'd start with a sketch on graph paper or vellum.

But for roughly 30 years now, I've been doing everything in CAD, 2D into the early 1990's transitioning to 3D in the late 1990's, and then parametric 3D ever since ca.2000. Now, I basically "think" via CAD, it's the first place I turn when starting to form a new idea.

Of course they all work, it's just a matter of how you've trained your own brain to think through such problems.

All those troubleshooting years when I hit a snag I could solve it right as I went to sleep.
Before REM.

I think I can get Ryobi here, I'm not sure.
The thing is, I still have the battery and charger for the old saw. I have a grinder that takes the same battery; so if I can get the same saw again I will.
They may have dropped the whole battery tool line, I'll find out eventually.
I found what I consider the best/ lowest cost place to buy Ryobi re-conditioned tools is: Direct tool outlet, Seiverville TN. Tanger Outlet, white oaks mall.
The only thing I have ever found different is, the reconditioned tools are marked as such, with RECON melted into the case and have a shorter warranty; but they all must pass the same inspection as a new one to be sold. My Ryobi trimmer is going on 8 yrs old and the same battery.

How do you do that in the field? Not everyone is working in or near a heated garage. This photo was taken at near zero degrees, 60 miles from home and it still worked.View attachment 4836245
I was the site Superintendent for a major home builder back in the early 2000swhen the Lithium batteries were first coming out to replace the NiCads. I'd walk the site, and there would be pickups idling with the A/C on. So, I asked the guys why they were doing that, and they said to charge the batteries for their tools. The Lithium batteries wouldn't charge above 100F, or below 32F. The old NiCads would charge up to 115F and down to 0F. I had the electricians install a bunch of receptacles, and the cabinet guys install a hundred feet of 12-inch deep shelving in meeting room of my office, so they could charge thins in the meeting room, and not have twenty some trucks idling on the site.

I purposely stayed with the NiCads as long as I could.
