Well, it sounds like you got the ROPS paid for, but made your sisters boyfriend upset. They way it went I'm not suprised. Good luck gettting is installed.

I was at odds over an issue- with my Brother, several years ago. It took us a while to work things out. Both of us did our share of bitching about the other..... guess we finally realized what a waste of time it is. However, the time apart did allow me time to reflect and learn some things.

I hope that your sisters BF will eventually accept, deal with or otherwise come to terms with all of this. I hope that it will result in a stronger relationship for all of you.

No fun to have a divided family....... But perhaps he will use his time apart to reflect and learn.

Principles and ethics are two things that so often- get disregarded for the wrong reasons. I don't envy the pressure all of your decisions brought- but to preserve the principle and ethics of this situation was the right thing to do.

I don't understand - Maybe I was raised by too ethical of parents but I can't imagine standing there and denying something when you knew you did it. I couldn't stand there and pretend I didn't do it.

My Dad never lends anything out and the older I get the smarter he looks! Well it does suck when he won't lend me something but hey that's why people rent things!

Good luck and sorry to hear your troubles - You seem like you are too nice!

My theory is: he either:

Did it
Loaned it out to someone else(which he was not authorized to do) and they did it

Either way, it does not matter. It happend when he was responsible for it. Don't know why he has such a hard time getting that.

Oh well, at least he paid for it.

If I didn't think I did it, I would tell you so in a matter of fact manner (after all, you will have follow-up questions that I cannot possibly answer.) I would also tell you I understand why you think I did it. I would gladly pay for it, and call it rent. The details are fuzzy now, but if I remember correctly, he had it much longer than a $500 rental bill would cover. He should grow the heck up, and learn to look at things in various ways. Paying $500 in that situation is the easy, smart, and honorable decision. It is also very cost effective vs rent.

This whole thing is so messed up, and I feel bad for finding the thread so interesting at the expense of your ROPS! I think Big Bri has the best theory about what happened, when he suggested that your hopefully-never-brother-in-law used the ROPS to pull something. I can picture someone wrapping a strap around it and trying to back up. That's the only way I can see the ROPS getting bent - forward - that far without anyone getting injured, and with the POSSIBILITY of the person not realizing it.

Backing up under a stout tree limb or roof would do this. And it would take a head of steam.

Twin stix, did you check with his auto insurance? Whatever he hit and it probably was while towing is gonna be damaged and there might be a claim.

Did not check auto insurence but bf has security cameras all around his house they are always on recording and they would have seen him hit the deck or wood shed . I asked to see the hard drives to see exactly were and when he hit something but he gave a excuse about the cameras ...... **** of a learning experience never agaign lend it out....
