For those with a Menards nearby, these racks make very sturdy shelves: https://www.menards.com/main/storag...156-c-9926.htm?tid=5717348338232339463&ipos=9

Kind of like light-weight pallet racking. They have multiple widths, heights and a couple depths. The particle board shelf inserts are extra (optional) and I don't like them. I have used plywood as much sturdier. If it is a shelf you are going to put things on by hand, much deeper than 18-20" (maybe 24" max) means you will never find anything as it is too hard to see the back part. Price is decent too.

I had a castered angle iron frame cart that came under a used welder I purchased. The wheels were hardly used as the 400 pound transformer welder it supported was hardwired. I suppose it only got rolled away from the wall a few times over the years to clean behind it.

I decked it with scrap 2” boards, added removable handles and rattle canned it.

DOM tube used for handles and sockets.

Re: Big Barn痴 Retirement Farm Shop

This thread motivated me to finally 'build' a rack for my metal drops. Ended up with the Costco $149 rack. Really like it. Sturdy and quick to put together. My ugly piles of metal are no longer staring me in the face and each shelf is designated for a particular shape (flat, round, angle, square). So much easier to find what I am looking for!

Awesome. Maybe this thread will be remembered for Costco industrial racks* like that other TBN thread that was covertly sponsored by Knipex Tools. :)

* great for drying nuts BTW.

Re: Big Barn痴 Retirement Farm Shop

And what do you guys think is causing this problem?

Two ways it can go, IMO. First, it must be too easy to get someone else to give you money to live on (handouts, food stamps, etc) Second, there is a portion of society that doesnt function well on their own (mentally disturbed/challenged) and without decent facilities and/or lots of money, treatment isnt available.
Boiled down - group one, too lazy to work because they dont have to
- group two, cant work and cant get the right help.
There is a third element to consider - our government cant get the money to where it needs to go

First photos of my “new to me” 50 pound powerhammer.

It’s a Canadian Giant made under license to Little Giant by Jardine Manufacturing in Ontario. Haven’t determined year of manufacture yet but it is a minimum of 90 years old.

Currently is in working order but will likely become a winter refurbish project.
