It looks like a new market is developing for "old tech" tractors. Farmers seem to have reached their wits end with John Deere's vision of the future tractor.

Older late 90’s and early 2000’s tractors are in demand.
Older Case-IH Magnums and New Holland TG’s are especially in demand for their simple, rugged engines and transmissions.
Mechanical injection is especially desirable for it’s simplicity and lack of computer controls.

We have a huge dairy nearby (the last one, too) and it has a yard full of older Magnums and Steigers. They don’t want anything to do with equipment they can’t repair or has “proprietary” nonsense.

As if all farmers dont have enough concerns with pricing of fuel, feed, fertilizer and equipment lets throw in getting 240 VAC or 3 phase power to our equipment sheds and barns to plug everything in.

Will this new 640 Bud truly be old school with minimal electronics and sensors? Per the article they will be using a CAT engine with CAT 18 speed power shift tranny. I suspect both of them will require some form of electronic controller. Not sure if CAT is making their control proprietary or not. Doubt this will be your grandpas Big Bud though.
