The debate then always becomes whether it is worth it or not.

When I was a mechanic...mine was look behind you...there is no one else back there to fix it. That's why they brought it to me.

but the worth it definately plays a part. Fix it for $2000, buy a new one for $1500.

I'm about ready to adopt that same kind of a philosophy, and I'm not even a mechanic. Repeatedly I have had the experience when I give up on fixing something of taking it to a "Professional" just to have it come back in the same or worse condition.

This tractor is a big piece of that philosophy. My afore-mentioned motorcycle went to a few mechanics in the 8 years I spent working on it. Everything I paid someone else to fix, I ended up re-fixing before I finally got the bike running.

I own a body shop and I repair a lot of rally cars as this is what I specialize in. In June the Subaru Rally Team USA flipped 3 cars at one event and had a full plate getting ready for the X-games. What I saying is, Don't ever give up! It's only money!!! as I tell people it will be x amount to fix your race car. With me it comes to a point where. Its the fact that I will not let it beat me at any cost . Its the point not the principle of it and I get very stubburn and my wife gets very mad at me for being like this, Till I figure it out and my JD655 was one of those projects that drove me up a wall. Honestly, if it weren't for the fact that I have a similar stubborn competitive streak, this tractor would have been sold on e-bay one piece at a time months ago.
