Hey all,
As I'm looking around to buy my first tractor, zeroed in on a TC24DA, I want to get a box scraper for it and need some information about the right size. Also I'm thinking about a Top and Tilt to go with it. One dealer quoted a Gearmore GBS54H w/ 3spool kit for $2,300 and another a Gearmore 2G1-54 for $3,000. When I asked Corriher they said I shouldn't go bigger then a 48" or I would have to go to the TC29DA if I wanted to have the 54" scraper.

What do you all recommend for a 24HP tractor w/ HST 4x4?

I will say that I've never hooked a box scraper up to my TC24D, but I think that 48" is probably a pretty good match.

I have a 60" scraper that I use with my Kubota B2910 and never even considered using it with the TC24D. I do use a 60" Corriher rear blade with my TC24D and have stopped the tractor dead in its tracks a few times because I grabbed too much of the earth; so just based on my experience with the rear blade, I'd think you MIGHT be able to pull a 54" box blade but you would probably be better off with the 48" unit.

I would go with a Terrain Contour Control (TCC) TNT setup from Integration Engineering ( Top and Tilt ) for about $1200 and a Midwest box scraper from Corriher for about $350. Best bang for the buck.

Ive used a 48" box blade to rip and there were times when the tractor wouldnt continue forward b/c it was hooked a rock it couldnt pull. Just a data pt to use in making a decision.

Thanks for the info. It seems that I should stay with a 48" box. I thought the 54" might be too big. I wish I could afford the TC29DA.

I did a driveway for a friend and I wish I had a 54 so I didn't have to drive so close to the side of the driveway. On the other hand, the driveway was steep and the tractor couldn't pull it up the hill. A TC29 would be sweet.

SleepingDog, I have a NH TC 24D with a 54 inch Gearmore box scraper and it works fine for me. Good call on the TNT for it as well, makes all the difference in the world. I do not find that the 54 inch box is to heavy to drag around. I have very steep terraces and have had no big problems. The 54 inch blade also cover my tracks much better as well.
