I asked JD about and they told me to run offroad in my 2210 because of higher sulfur content.

Offroad diesel here is only .10 cents cheaper than onroad. I thought there was suppose to be a bigger price break for tax in offroad??

usually about 40 cents different but all depends on where it is, state taxes, how much sulfer in it, and all that but usually 40 cents difference.

If they're not giving you the full amount of the tax off they are pocketing the difference.
Look on the taxed diesel pump and see what the taxes are.
If they can give the Gov. this money on the taxed stuff then they owe you this same money on the no tax stuff.

They OWE you? Why? Aren't they entitled to sell their product at whatever they see fit? A local gas station near my house sells off road and on road diesel. They sell a respectable volume of on road. They sell a very limited volume of off road. In order to make everything pencil out, they need to sell it for a price only a few cents less than the on road. They have to justify the added expense of another pump/tank/filters/ect. They "OWE" me NOTHING. And if they are pocketing the difference, it's my perogative to take my business elsewhere if I can drive across the county to "save" a few cents (at the expense of a few bucks)

If something's non taxable it's non taxable/which means you don't pay any of the tax amount to either the Government or the merchant.
Tax exempt is tax exempt: Never have I ever shared the Tax savings with the merchant in like I get part and he gets the rest.
In 31 years of owning my own housing company never did I ever split tax savings on a non taxable sale with the customer.
He always got the full amount of the tax off the selling price.
To do anything else is an unethical business practice in my book..

If for some perfectly valid reason, such as the one I noted in the earlier post, it cost you more per unit of whatever you're selling to sell the non-taxable item than it did to sell a unit of the taxable item, would you, the vendor, eat the difference in cost or pass it on to the eventual buyer?

That's what I thought.

I for one wouldn't want to question someones morals or ethics based on an unfounded assumption. It's just as likely to be a situation where there is a good reason as it is a case of gouging customers. In the end, you the customer have every right to take your business elsewhere, ethical business practice or not, if you don't agree with their pricing.

What next are we going to have to register our tractors with the epa so they can find us so they can inspect out tractors once a month?

It won't matter after 2012.
