PILOON- Were you able to deal with Fabco direct? I was told they only dealt wholesale when I called. thay referred me to a Company Werk-Brau who will only set up open accounts. How did it work for you? ...Scozz

Yes. I started off by getting a catalog by mail, then phoned and later placed an order via Email.
Service was good, no complaints.
They are not setup for CC's, check only (that was slow due to clearing) so'd I'd suggest Certified or a MO.
They did try to get me to buy from a dealer but that was totally no good due to fact they have sparse network in Canada.
They ONLY use UPS (bad for Cdns)ok for USA.

I should add that they will not 'advise' on applications or cross referance brands so you have to be real careful with selecting adapters.

My cutting edge was 3/8" and bucket 3/16" and I used a 1/2" X 3" flat.

If that sounds like your bucket, then this works:
16S7-8-23 @6.90ea adapters
8023 @2.09 teeth
RP-H23 @1.00 roll pins

The fit is excellent, no grinding and complete adapter support as that adapter is 3" long so good weld surface.

While I ahve not welded up yet, I have done complete trial fit
so I know that it will be a snap to weld. Just need that hour or two.

I noted that some guys pics had the adapter only partially welded as the flat was not adaquate.

I ordered spare pins and teeth while at it.

I dealt with Kelly Bosworth ph # 419-427-0872

Good luck and happy weldin!

Piloon,
I just found out the other week that there are "UPS Store's" near the border where you can have stuff shipped to, and then go over and pick up yourself to save the (expensive, outrageous perhaps) brokerage charges. Works OK if you live near the border.

Haven't tried it yet, but there's on in Ogdensburg I think it was.

I said I'd make the tooth bar when I found a loose couple of hours:

Well, yesterday gave me a couple hrs.
Good estimate as two hrs did it!

Overall pic of bar installed.

Close up.

If I did it again, I'd order the 1s7-8-23 adapters as they would accomodate 3/8 X 3" bar. (.93" 'grip')
Rather than using a 1/2" bar. (used 1.06" 'grip').

Reason being that the 1/2 is so 'stiff' that installing over the slightly 'warped' bucket edge (with nicks etc) became difficult and required a fair bit of shaping with a 10 lb sledge so that it would 'comply'.
With 3/8 bar I believe I could have simply tapped it into place.

I tried it to chew into frozen snow banks along my drive and WOW does it do a number. Really 'digs in' while without I could barely get a bucketfull of frozen compacted snow/ice.

Cant wait to dig in real earth.

Piloon;
Thanks for the inspiration, I just received my FABCO adapters (1s7-8-23 ) this week. I'm going with a 3/8 flat stock for the same reasons you mentioned. I'm breaking out the welder tomorrow. I don't think I'll get it done in two hours though!!!

To be fair, I had everything cut and fitted beforehand so it was plain straight welding.

Also this was the first serious usage of my new 'automatic' helmet.
Man, with that helmet anybody can be a pro!
It was a $39.00 BIN Ebay deal. Works just great!

Reading these postings gets costly LOL.
The helmet was purchased after reading the TractorByNet discussions on that subject.

Good luck with your dentures.

While I dont regret the 1/2' flat, I'd have prefered using the 3/8 however my bar will never let me down with that overkill.

Yes I agree - The 3/8" x 2-1/2" COLD rolled is what I used on my 9 tooth "Gold Teeth" bar. You would not believe the difference in the quality and hardness of cold rolled steel vs the hot rolled stuff. Also about 2wice the cost though.

Glad to hear that the teeth dig into the Icebergs - All I got now is MUD - snow is finally starting to melt. Here in the Sandia Mountains of New Mexico.
