Buying a new GN trailer: tilt or deckover?

Yep, they probably would.

I am pretty sure PJ are Hydraulically tilted. Could be good or bad depending on what you load. Thought about this a lot before I bought my Kaufman. In the end I like my Kaufman as it tilts down as load is applied. Would not like having to apply parking brakes on wet deck and climbing down to tilt trailer.
Good Luck in whatever you decide and give us your views.

Really not a fan of the full tilt, which seems to be most of the deck over tilts.

My trailer wasn't supposed to be a full tilt it had a fixed section in the front that didn't tilt. I ordered mine full tilt because I liked full tilt better. I would think if you want to order one you can get it any way you want. You will have to see the tilt trailers in person. Some of the ones I seen I wouldn't like because they don't seem well built enough. Now the pj I have is built like a tank the the hydraulic ram is a beast. I feel very safe loading in my trailer with my t5050 and it's much heavier than your tractor. I can pull the T5050 all the way forward and the hydraulics will still tilt the deck with ease.

You have a very long lead for the hydraulic remote that you can run from the cab of the tractor to tilt up or down. Not 100% sure but I think you can get a wireless remote too. If not it would be easy enough to add.

The PJ tilt I am looking at is gravity hydraulic cylinder. So it moves up and down with the load. The cylinder just balances the load for an even, safe movement.

What brand axles do the PJ's use?? Since the axles require the most maintenance, I'd be curious as to what I was buying. Reliability, parts availability, etc.

They use Dexter.

Awesome. My neighbor bought a PJ about 10 years ago. It had Chinese axles of some kind. Had a LOT of bearing problems. Couldn't get parts locally. Finally fixed it up and sold it. Was hoping they had changed suppliers.

I think they have really upped their game in the past few years as the trailer manufacturing market has really started to see a lot of new faces.

I do know that some of their bumper-pull trailers are manufactured in Mexico. Maybe they still have cheap axles on them? But all the GN's are built in West TX. :)

Hey Richard… totally unrelated question…

Is your F250 in the pic you posted with your GN and M9540 a 1999? I'm wondering because the 1999 F250 I bought has the same mirrors as yours. One of them is cracked so I want to replace it.

However, I've seen some nice aftermarket towing mirrors, too. Do those mount on the 99's with the paddle-style mirrors?
