GlueGuy; I don't have the rattle problem myself, but I am curious. What was the tube slices for? Like yours, my shaft also cannot pull up out of the hole, one reason I wasn't overly concerned. (But as Tim mentioned, jamming could be a possibility, so I will fix it. Another item on my to-do list /w3tcompact/icons/frown.gif).

I was afraid if I took all the slack out with washers, that it would maybe "bind up". The safer course was to put something flexible; like a washer made of rubber. Now with all the slack out, even the cotter pin doesn't wiggle.

The "slack" was in the horizontal shaft that the joystick rides on. There was almost 3/8" between the washer and the side of the assembly. The loose washer was what was making all the noise.

BTW - While I had the whole thing apart, I put a little dab of grease on the space between the washers, and on every pivot point. Loose as a goose, but no rattles. I'm a happy guy /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif.

From time to time we find the shafts and the levers on the loader control valves tight. The reason the lever is as loose as it comes from Kubota is so it will not freeze up to the shaft. On the shaft with the snap ring I would wonder that with the snap ring coming of that that would be from the shaft being too tight and forcing off the snap ring as it being the weakest point.

Roy,

I just got off the phone with my service guy at the local Kubota dealer. He sent me a fax of the part break-out for my FEL control valve assembly. Turns out there is a good reason to get the snap ring (and collar underneath it) replaced.

They not only hold the assembly down, they also retain the bushing that the control rides inside of. According to my service guy, the bushing fits in there "kind of snugly", but it's possible for it to fall out if the collar and snap ring are not there. /w3tcompact/icons/frown.gif

Thanks, GlueGuy! When I get off the computer, I will have to check and make sure the bushing is still in place (that no damage was done). Any chance of uploading the fax in jpeg or bmp format? Thanks.

Roy,

Attachment is the break-out drawing of the control lever assembly for the LA302 loader on my B7500. I suspect that the assembly on your BX is different. The bushing in question is part #20 on this drawing, and the cir-clip (AKA snap ring) is part #40. Part #30 is called a "collar", and goes under the cir-clip.

This second attachment is the parts list for the first attachment.

Appologies for the image quality. This is a scan of a fax of an unknown document quality/w3tcompact/icons/crazy.gif.

Thanks, GlueGuy! /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif Without taking it apart, I beleive that my unit is setup the same as yours. Outside of the 2 known missing parts, I'm OK. The image quality was just fine.

Just picked up, and installed a replacement washer and clip. My dealer provided them per gratis {Attention all Central and Western Maryland residents!} , they didn't ask for anything in return {If your in the market for a tractor, ZTR, implement or even a chain saw}, not a thing. Before putting them on, I cleaned off the surface. I seem to have been over lubricating the joystick this winter, {Check out Frederick Kubota} which may of contributed to the loss. Couldn't do the wire trick though. Just not enough room to pass a wire through the holes and the washer once it was on (and I needed the holes free for mounting). I will keep an eye on it, {Great staff, and a service department who really know tractors!} and if I loose these, will probably go with the drill/cotter pin solution. Just wish that there were something I could do in return for the dealer /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif.
