I see it like marketing cars. Multiple engine choices. Who needs the highest available power... not many.

Don't need more than 23HP from a diesel with a backhoe either...If I'm not careful, I could flip my machine with the hoe in a matter of seconds...23HP gas and 23HP diesel aren't even in the same league.

What about heavy brush with a brush hog? BTW...can you run a five foot brush hog with a BX...or is a four foot likely the max? Thanks...TomR

Never tried it, but 4' would be my guess....Wouldn't even think about that without skid plates though.

Not sure what skid plates are...something to support the brush hog as it slides? TMR

Skid plates that protect the HST fan...If you run in the woods or high brush with a BX you are pretty much guaranteeing damage to the fan. Newer models may be protected but older ones were not ...A shortcoming of Kubota for some reason....An MMM can help with the protection to a degree.

Ah, the fan protection...I am aware of that. Thanks...I thought maybe the brush hog needed some skid plates to help it along a bit :) TMR

My 32hp L3200 is a lot more tractor & is usually traction limited. The much lighter B much less BX doesn't stand a chance of putting that power to the ground. They are what half the weight of my machine (3,500 lbs with ballast & loader)? The limiting factor on the 3pt & PTO is going to be how much it can lift as much as how much it can spin.

This reminds me of the BX 25 versus B 2650 debate. I have the BX25, and I run out of traction before I run out of power, but the biggest limitation is in the lifting power of the BX25 FEL. The B2650 does not have much more horsepowe (26 vs. 23 for the BX25), and the PTO horsepower is only 19.5 versus 17 for the BX25, but the real big issue in my view is the frame. The FELis rated for 1200 lbs. or so compared to 745 (which I can never seem to get) on the BX25.

On the other hand, the B2650 with a backhoe on is a heck of a lot more expensive than the BX25.

I have always noticed there is a better model out there with more power, higher lift, etc... but for some reason they always want more $$$$ for it :D
