bx power

Im not saying the 23hp needs more power but I wonder why the 2670 has the bigger engine. Dosent have a backhoe. I would just think the 25 would need the extra power for the hoe..
I surely doubt that the hydraulic pump is taxing the engine to run the hoe even with larger flow I don't think it would matter to the engine. 23 HP would drive a large hydraulic pump without overloading the engine. I don't even hear the RPM change at all on my B26 when using the hoe or FEL so I don't think it is using a lot of power to run it.
As others have said, why do you need more power if you can spin all 4 wheels. My B26 weighs almost 3 times as much as the BX and gets along fine with 26 HP engine

My BX2200 runs the FEL, 60" MMM and a 60" tiller as well as pushing snow and moving large rocks. The engine has never loaded down or even acted like it was under heavy load. All four wheels will spin when pushing into dirt or large rocks.

More lifting capacity on the FEL would be nice on occasion but not worth getting a larger tractor.

Well, that is 45% more torque for the B2650. That would go along way to make a wood chipper more responsive to bigger diameter pieces, because the torque would help prevent the RPMs from slowing way down. I was thinking of getting a smaller wood chipper for my BX25, but I felt that the 17 hp PTO rating was a bit on the light side.

Your bx would pull a smaller chipper. I run a wallenstien bx42 (rated 4") with my B2920 all the time. 3" dia pieces gets chewed up easily. Anything bigger than 3" is firewood anyhow. 4" "hard" wood is too much for it. I'll put the chipper on the m7040 and let her rip.

For those that want more lifting out of the FEL check your hydraulic pressure. You can shim the relief valve to raise the pressure. I shimmed my BX22 to 2000lbs and what a difference it made. The only problem I've had was the 16 year old weathered hydraulic hoses. When one springs a leak I just replace both hoses on that cylinder. I have the hoses made at half of the cost of a Kubota hose.

I have a shim kit... just haven't gotten around to it yet.
