Kubota appears to be serious about compact tractors, more so than anyone else.
JD : 4100, 4200, 4300, 4400, 4500, 4600, 4700, 790
NH: TC18,TC21,TC25,TC29,TC33,TC35,TC40,TC45
NH confuses me. It has tractors that appear to be in the same class - is one just an older model?
eg. TC33 vs 1920.
Kubota: BX2200, B7400,B7500,B2410,B2710,B2900,L3010,L3410,L3710,L4310,L4610,B21,L35,L2600,L3000
pretty impressive range.

Re: BX2200 Hoopla!

Concrete in a 4 cu. ft. wheelbarrow weighs approximately 350lbs. I fill it to the top and then some. I always wheel the loaded wheelbarrow on the front wheel, its easier then carrying the entire 350lb wheelbarrow in ones arms since the front wheel takes about 75% of the weight. Got a 4 yard slab to wheel this week and a 1 yarder with a concrete trailer to do for my mother in law as soon as I get around to it. I don't mind the work out, but if I'm getting a tractor, I want one in the compact size that can lift about 3 million pounds. I could use my borrowed FORD 2120, but that would involve a trailer, and cutting torch to get it through these new 5' sideyards people buy. Rat...

P.S. My Ford truck is NOT a "Fix Or Repair Daily", I work on it every other day, but I still like it.

Re: BX2200 Hoopla!

I was thinking more of on the wheel too, but on rough ground, where you want it to go straight, and it wants to dump sideways... Was doing that one time, seemed like I was strong enough to control it until handle broke off!

I saw someone using a wheelbarrow with 2 wheels on the front. Would seem to solve the problem.

Re: BX2200 Hoopla!

Jim, my resistance to the word toy was only in that compared to the typical Kubota 18-22 hp machines I see no difference in the construction quality, use of materials and attention to detail in the BX. They are completely different than a typical garden tractor.

Actually these are all "toys" as most of us agree we enjoy using them. Can you enjoy "WORKING"? (yup)

Really as far as "toys" are concerned it's all relative. I'm sure the guys that run the D10 and D11 cats in the mines sit at the diner and see a guy pull up trailing a typical D4 contruction dozer and say. "Hey Bob look at that little thing, why I'll bet he has to slow down when he hits a 5 ton boulder! What could you use a toy like that for?" /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Paddock,

If ya want ta get cha sum edjamacation on what a 18 hp tractor will do, go read New Holland owning, I posted what my TC18 can handle there! That way, you'll know what a small compact can do whether it is Blue, Orange, Green or other colors! /w3tcompact/icons/cool.gif

sjvalin,

I don't know how big Kubota goes? Is the "M" their biggest, what is the horsepower of their largest?
If it is their biggest, they have to focus on the compacts, they ARE their bread and butter, however, I don't think that means that New Holland and Deere don't focus on their's! If NH wasn't focused, they sure wouldn't have called the new design a "Boomer"! /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Who made the first compact diesel and what year?

Re: BX2200 Hoopla!

Jim, I've rented some of the subcompacts and relative to the old 2WD loaders of yesterday, even the smaller tractors do well. When I use the articulating 900 series loaders CAT makes, I have to laugh a little when I use my tiny little Ford 2120. The bucket is only 72", holds about 1/2 yard in the bucket and can only lift 2200lbs or so. But the ability to do things around here with it still is amazing. The thought of doing some of these things by hand makes me tired. I'm sure if I did not have the 2120 and had to use a shovel, pick, wheelbarrow etc. it would make me beg for a TC18 or BX 2200. You know, one of the biggest errors I've made is to use something big and then go down in size. Unless its a matter of manuverability or size restriction because of clearances, the bigger the better. Of course, for personal use, the cost is a huge factor. I'd go with the M series by Kubota, very nice tractors, but I use the loader alot and with HST there just isn't a quicker way to do it, well, actually, I'm really fast with a Bobcat, but they roll like dice on the hills and I have a big pond for the thing to get me into big trouble, real fast. That is one thing I will readily admit to having a fear of. Being in the pond, on my tractor, upside down or sideways, buried in mud. Whewww, I really watch myself there. Rat...

Re: BX2200 Hoopla!

Paddock,

Me too, but had to settle for 2200 pounds and it won't go through a 5 ft sideyard. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif but I have a 32 ft wide gate.

All compact tractors, regardless of brand name, are manufactured in Japan. Yanmar makes John Deere compacts (the 4100 is even assembled in Japan.) Shibuara makes New Holland compacts, and has done so for twenty years. Iseki makes Bolens, White, and some AC compacts. Hinomoto makes Massey Ferguson and Deutz compacts, and Mitsubishi makes Cub Cadet and Case compacts. The compact diesel tractor is basically a Japanese invention. Kubota is the only Japanese compact tractor manufacturer who bothered to take the time to establish a brand name in the U.S. This is the main reason why grey market Kubotas are illegal to import into the U.S. If one reads the results of the lawsuit, they see that the lack of ROPS was really a non-issue. Silly as it might seem, the reason why the ITC ruled in Kubota America's favor was for trademark infringement. Even though Kubota Japan owns Kubota America, they will not allow their Japanese products to be sold under the Kubota name in the U.S.
