Mowing on flat ground? Are you one of those types that also wear a bicycle helmet when riding a bike? (great for kids, but adults? ?)

I like the spring clamp idea.

I always wear a seatbelt. The idea of being squished by heavy equipment (ok, a BX2200 doesn't qualify, but the 3010 does) never appealed to me.

It's possible that your seatbelt is working properly and mine is not.

There is NO WAY you could wear mine for any amount of time, unless you are just sitting on the tractor idle, in which case you probably would not benefit from a seatbelt. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Don't get me wrong, I WANT to wear the seatbelt. Help me!!! /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Mine doesn't get so tight that it is uncomfortable. Maybe it's because I have a lot of blubber for padding! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Interestingly enough, I've never had my seatbelt tighten up on me, either on my present BX22 or my previous machine, a BX2200.

I don't wear mine because like Brinet, I want to be able to exit the seat rapidly if needed.

Now I would NEVER say it isn't a good idea to wear your seatbelt , but to be HONEST, IF ANYONE IN THIS FORUM ISN'T HAVING A PROBLEM WEARING YOUR SEATBELT, you probably don't know your tractor came with one!

Hummmm....

I have a B2910 and a BX2200 and I must report that while I am not perfect I wear my seatbelt about 95+% of the time on both tractors...and the only reason it is not 100% is because sometimes I am moving a short distance on a flat surface, slowly, with nothing in the loader bucket...

No, I do know my tractors have seatbelts. I use them and I don't have a problem using them...

I am pushing 400 hours on my B2910 in less than 2 years and have about 60 hours on the BX which is less than a year old. So I do use the tractors... /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

dannydan,

You obviously have never really ridden a bicycle as an adult.

If you like I will dig up a couple photos of a bicycle helmet that may have saved my life about 3 years ago. I used to bicycle 32 miles a day to work, round trip. One morning about a mile from work at about 25 mph, a dog ran out and got tangled in my front wheel.

Somehow I crashed to the pavement backwards and the rear of my helmet impacted the pavement and the helmet literally split in two. I hurt real bad elsewhere for two weeks and missed a month of work. But I am alive...and my head never hurt at all.

So yes, I can tell you from experience, that bicycle helmets for ADULTS are a great idea, just like ROPS and SEATBELTS on tractors are a great idea.

If you don't use safety devices, you may (or may not) live to regret it. Your decision.

SCB,

How do you know this desire of yours is based in reality and not illusion?

From reports I have read here I think it tends to lean towards the illusion side. Wish I could point you at those posts...where people reported that when the "big one" happened, they had no time to do anything but ride it out, to paraphrase a bit.

It is your life and your decision...no argument there.

I wear mine, when I remember it (just moved up from a 1963 Ford 4000D with NO safety equipment), and have had no problem (only 2 weeks with the tractor though). Most of the time I think of it when I am moving and feel compelled to try and get it buckled while moving over bumpy ground, making it difficult to pull the belt out far enough to actually buckle it.

I have read where if you are using the ROPS you are safer with it on, and if no ROPS you are safer with it off. Sometimes I don't bother to put the ROPS up after pulling out of the garage, so I don't wear the seat belt.
