Hey guys I would like to install a block heater in my BX2230D for when I use the snow blower. The dealer says I have to use the inline one for the radiator but I cant see any reason that 70000-00776 will not work? My tractor has a D902-E-BX engine and the BX2350 has a D902-E2-BX-2. I cant really find any differences between the two as to why the block heater would not work?

Not sure about the fit but whatever you do be super careful about drilling in, near, around your block. A few folks have gone thru a bunch of grief by getting into the cylinders. All they were doing was drilling out the freeze plug to add aheater.

Wiser words have never been spoken!

I remember a thread here where the poster did exactly that and it was a very sad story (measured in $$$) to say the least.

My BX2200 has a block heater NOT an in line heater. It was installed by the dealer when I purchased the tractor.

Yea I read that. I think I’m going to stay away from the drill bit method and try and use the punch or a screwdriver and tap it out. Hopefully I can find out if that part number will work.

I just did some Googling and came up with part number 70000-73595. The Coleman Equipment site says it fits the following BX Series:
BX1800D, BX1830D, BX1850D, BX1860, BX1870, BX1880, BX2200D, BX2230D, BX2350D, BX2360, BX2370, BX2380, BX24D, BX25, BX2660D, BX2670

I also remember some folks were confused as to which freeze plug to put the heater in. If it's a compression fit make sure the edges are clean so it doesn't leak. I put one on in a b2601 and it was a threaded fit. I lucked out!

I seen that one to but I’m not sure where it would go on a d902 it looks like the element sticks out to far to go on the block. I did some digging and found install instructions for kit 70000-00771 and it specifically lists it to be compatible with a bx2230. On Messicks website 70000-00771 is no longer available and has been replaced with 70000-00776. So I’m like 99 percent sure that one will work now.

We had an in-line one on our Benz 220D. Worked fine on a -22F morning in Vermont, turned on about 20 minutes or so before starting. Started up that usual 1/2 turn of the crankshaft.

Had a freeze plug one on the Benz 240D. It was used sometimes to provide immediate heat from garage starts but never got a real challenge because we'd sold the Vermont house by that time.

Just need about 20 minutes before starting them. Otherwise, you're just wasting electrical energy with heat going out to the air via the radiator.

My BX2230 has a block heater when I purchased it used from a dealer. When cold weather came it was not working. So the dealer put in another one, not sure of the aprt number. But this was about 5 years ago. Dad's BX2230 also has a block heater and his works. Again a used tractor. Jon

Do you happen to have a picture of it installed?
