I would try to straighten it out. auto press and a lot of safety equipment. Ive straightened out a steering cyl on a case 680. Then you can have a spare cyl.

If you financed your tractor thru Kubota and took out the Kubota insurance, that insurance covers "accidental damage". Its worth a phone call, they probably would cover the damage less the $250 deductable.

Excellent idea on the insurance claim. I put in a call and an adjuster is supposed to contact me Monday. Thanks for the tip.

Rod bending on a back-hoe cylinder is much more common than you may think. I've got 2 cylinders right now off of back-hoes with bent rods. The brod is the weak point on a back-hoe, believe it or not. Here are 2 rods, one is 2" the other 2.5", both pretzels now.

Quick update.

I installed the new cylinder Friday PM, without any difficulty. Just a matter of removing a couple of bolts and pushing out the pins, transfering the hydraulic fittings, zip, zip. Probably a 30 minute job taking my time being sure to get everything right.

I greased all the fittings on the BH, and FEL while I was at it, worked the bucket a few times, filled up the hydraulic fluid reservoir, and was good to go.

Stump is buried, and the area is graded, fertilized, and seeded.

Today I faxed the receipt for the cylinder and 1 gal. fluid to the insurance company.

I'll let you all know when/if I get a check, but that the story for now.

Final Chapter.

I actually received a check in the mail.

The Insurance covered the damage including a gallon of SUDT minus the $250 deductable.

Grass is already growing where the stump once was, and the graduation party Saturday was a big success. Even the rain which was forcasted to be on and off all day, held off until late in the evening when most were already leaving.

Now I'm ready for the next "big dig".
