I have a 2006 bx24 with 130 hrs on it.

I have replaced the hst fan.

I have changed all the fluids and filters.

Adjusted the linkage.

And I still have a problem.

My bx transmission just squeals when I am in reverse going up any grade, or if there is a load on it.

Any ideas?

Thanks

What type of a squeal? What happens in low range?

...low range?

When "fully loaded" i.e. 4WD/FEL/BH/MM/loaded tires/me...mine unhappy w/hills in either direction when in hi...basically use hi for mowing and transport on level ground. Early on applied more pedal...wrong...just went into pressure relief mode. Later, stop and shift to lo...wrong again...shifting passes thru neutral, and depending on hill/brakes, may run away down hill. Now, stop, lo, 4WD at base of hill...

Not saying you don't have possible HST issue, but...

The squeal is coming from the tranny area. Sound like gears sheared off and just metal to metal plates with some hydro fluid between it.

It doesn't matter if I am in high or low range, 4wd or 2wd.
A load is any load including a small incline and empty buckets.

It does work on flat surface.

Did you purchase your BX new or used? In other words: do you know
Its history?

I purchased it from an older gentleman. He bought it as a toy more than anything. The FEL and the backhoe were never used. He pulled a 48" bush hog around a 1 acre grass lot. The bush hog looked new.

Well, that little bit of work wouldn't harm anything. Is it
possible you are hearing the normal whine of the HST?
Does this noise get louder the more you press on the HST
peddle?

Some have said the more expensive hydo fluid is quieter...

Did you replace with Kubota premium?

The noise does get louder the more I press on the pedal.
I would not mind the noise if the tractor was moving in reverse.
If I am on a grade, it just whines. And whines louder the harder I press.

Replaced with Kubota Premium. Not cheap!

What you describe here, soundslike the normal HST whine.

I would agree. These units to whine alot. Seems like more with heat too. Fluid type really does not matter.

Is there something that would cause the reverse to not engage when I am on a
up-slope?

   / BX24 REVERSE #14
The whine may be normal but the lack of power seems to indicate a definate problem. I know my BX24 has no problem with a load going up a hill. There have been reports of HST failures on here. Hope its not that. When you changed the fluid did you change the filters ?? Clean the screen??

The problem appears to be mainly in reverse. On a flat surface it is fine. But if I back up an incline, no-go! Very frustrating.

The pressure in forward is 2700 psi
reverse 1200 psi

When backing up do you feel any pulsating or back pressure on the peddle? When you said metal to metal with hydo fluid between, are the brakes on, or maybe adjusted all the way up and no pad left ... and that is in the fluid blocking a port so I fear that it is something in the tranny.

I believe that your fears are correct. They are going to open it up to determine the cause.
