I have a new BX25 with maybe 10 hours on it, and I've noticed it will sometimes stall out when backing up a slope (a very gentle one), even if I don't "step on the gas". Any ideas why this occurs? Has anyone else had this problem?

One possibility is that the driver detection system may be malfunctioning. (This system shuts down the engine if you try to drive with no one in the seat.) Maybe the angle of the slope is somehow misinterpreted as the driver getting up or something.

Is the PTO engaged when this happens? If so, then I think you're correct about it being the seat switch. Should be easy enough for you to test....

I have a new BX25 with the same problem. It is the seat switch and I jut make an effort to keep pressure down on the seat. This first few times this happened to me I thought it was stalling because it didn't have enough power.

I had posted this here and others have mentioned that the seat switch is adjustable. When my rig goes in for the 50 hour service, I will have them take a look.

Otherwise I hope you are enjoying your tractor as much as I am.

Cheers,

I have the BX2350 and find the seat switch is a bit too sensitive. Has anyone done a mod yet. I don't want to disable the switch as some local owners do.

Hey guys, thanks for the feedback. I'm glad the problem is so simple. I was worried that I just didn't have enough power to back up out of a ditch. And yes, I am having a blast with the new tractor - I even have dreams about it!;)

On my 2350, it came with 2 "Z" shaped metal stampings (gold colored IIRC) that are intended to act as the spring for the seat switch. The springs are stacked one on top of the other. I removed one of them based something I read here. With both springs in, I only had to slightly lift myself on the seat and the switch would trigger. With one spring, I have to be fully removed from the seat.

I don't recall seeing any type of vertical adjustment for the switch.

Prior to removing the spring, I bypassed the switch. However with my 14 year old doing all the mowing and a lot of the FEL work I didn't feel comfortable.

This issue was brought up in this thread as well.

I'm already way past the burger thingie. It only happens on the hills... so maybe a better seat would help where I don't slide forward(lol). Dealer already updated the seat.

The is an updated seat available for the BX25 already? (The BX 25 just came out)

I had the same issue on my new BX1850. Don't weight a whole lot, so I bypassed the seat switch. Nobody uses my tractor but me.

As someone else suggested I removed one of the plates that go over the switch. Works great now and I still got the "SAFETY" factor.
