BX25D rolls some after letting off? No ....to brake on left

I can tell you one thing, using the grease point will probably have no impact. When I messes with mine I disconnected all the linkage from the pedal and it was very free. The grease point would have to be seriously gummed up to be the problem.

JT, I'm bringing this thread back to life because I test drove a BX2660 today that had the same roll-on that you described in your BX25D. It happened in both forward and reverse and would roll 2 or 3 feet. I don't remember if the behavior was exactly the same at full throttle vs. lower rpms. I loved the tractor other than that one issue.

Has anyone identified the cause of this and the solution? I've read all the theories in this thread, which make a lot of sense, but no definite cause/solution.

Not sure what the actual issue is here. Isn't that why there is a brake pedal?

The issue is that an HST is supposed to stop when the throttle is released as has happened on 15 Kubotas with HST that I have owned/own. One doesn't but all of the others do? Now which one is wrong? That's the issue.
I've talked to Barlows (Kubota dealer) and all of them say an HST has to stop when the "lever" (foot pedal) reaches dead center between forward and reverse as has always happened and happens on all others HSTs. They say that's how an HST transmission works. Steve Barlow talked to Kubota Reg Rep who told them of two possible "fixes" (means something is wrong) to try on my machine to "fix" it. I haven't took it in for "repair/fix" yet because I've been using it in it's improper operating condition.
The brake is to hold it in position in lock down while getting off of the tractor with engine running or not running and it is for stopping tractors with gear drives (had one of those and only one which did not stop when the throttle was released, it kept going till clutch was pushed in and brake applied).
The BX2660 with run on was probably a throttle pedal that needs greasing.:2cents: Had one of those and it did not keep going when pedal released nor did my other BX25, BX2350, BX2200, B7800, B3200, B2620, L3240, F2680, F3080 second F3080, RTV1140, BX1500 and some others I can't remember. The B2320 gear drive with clutch DID.

I guess there is a simple diagnostic. Does the tractor never ever come to rest after letting off the pedal, or will it eventually come to rest? If it does eventually come to rest, just slower than you'd like, it suggests the damper needs tweaking (whether by replacement with a different spec, or lubrication, or adjustment). If it never ever comes to rest, then I suspect it's not something that can be changed. AS far as I know, fluid resistance in the plumbing is what gives the "apparent" braking when an HST control is centered.

Dragoneggs. Read this TBN forum concerning engine braking on a Kubota HST. It's an RTV article but transmission operation is the same. Engine braking is a selling point. If your OK with yours then don't mention it to your dealer or mess with it and BE HAPPY. :D http://www..com/forums/atvs-utility-vehicles/239180-best-engine-braking-utv-3.html#post4040990
Thanks JT. Will indeed read more and learn. My comment was intentionally a bit snarky but I am following your conundrum.

Noticed this on the newer BX23S I test drove today. I didn’t like the feeling of the tractor rolling. It did it on flat ground both forward and reverse. Not good for me. I really like the tractor but this makes me uneasy. The B2650 had no such issue.

Wow, old thread but pertinent, my BX25D never had those issues at all, however some stated that they experienced it. I haven't seen much on that topic in years. The dealer should be able to adjust that out. If you are serious about buying that tractor stipulate in the purchase agreement that the issue will be resolved to your satisfaction prior to purchase/delivery. Then test prior to delivery,.

Good luck..

I agree, if the dealer can provide you one that stops when the pedal is released on a downhill slope like it should then go for it but don't sign the papers till they do. I mean stop and if it does a jerky inching forward that's about normal but it should STOP! and not keep rolling at all.
The manuf should have a fix for this by now to provide to the dealers. It was not available at the time of my purchase and the dealers master Kubota mechanic with years of experience could not totally fix it. People often come up with the idea that every problem can be fixed by the dealer mechanic but just not so. Like the abrupt stop in reverse on the BXxx50 series until the factory came out with the BXxx60 series. The factory never provided a fix for the 50 series but not there in the 60 series.
I have since bought several more Kubotas and even a BX2370 and none of them have the continuing to roll or abrupt stop in reverse issue.
