The seat on our 3038e froze one winter & the seat sensor prevented operation. I jumpered it to get my snow plowing done. I later put a toggle switch in line between sensor & it's wire harness connector in case I had the situation reoccur. It also allowed operation of the wood chipper without having to put a bag of chains on the seat. I only toggle the bypass in specific instances, most of the time I leave the sensor enabled.

My 93 year old father in law with dementia and a bunch of little kids would beg to differ. ;)

Obviously, your 93 year old father, and little kids may need such things.
I am 13 years short of 93, and certainly not a little kid.
I do not need, or want, to be protected from myself!

The only safety switch on my current machine is on the hydraulic PTO to prevent starting the engine if it is engaged. Otherwise you're on your own. I like it. You have to develop a sequence of operation and follow it every time you get off and on the machine.

I'm sure there must be pictures somewhere that show what happens when you fall off your tractor and get ground up by the mower!.. this would be useful for people that can't believe it's dangerous and life threatening to disable the seat switch!..
Ever heard of a seat belt ??

I'm old enough that I had to learn to actually use my head when I did something.

The only safety switch on my 2N (which is still used almost daily) is the neutral safety switch which was bypassed 20 years ago when it failed.

To the best of my knowledge that tractor still hasn't killed anyone.

Too many "safety" enhancements makes people careless & gets them hurt.

Took me a while to figure out why my tractor would not start when I stalled it out bush-hogging my field the first time! Thought I had broken it somehow!

I had the same problem only I was on the trailer trying to drive the tractor off. Every time I pushed on the hydrostatic pedals the motor would die. I was 20 miles from home with a two hour mowing job that I didn't want to tow the tractor back and forth again for. What had happened is the seat belt buckle had jammed against the plug for the seat belt switch and had unplugged it. Once I got that figured I could continue on to my mowing job.

That happened while the tractor was still on warranty but it was at the end of the day and the dealer couldn't send someone out till the next morning.

Honestly, I never checked out the seat safety switch situation when I purchased my 2009 M6040. It's a PERFECT situation for my needs. The seat safety is only active when the PTO is used. I fiddley- diddle around and get the 3-point chipper hooked up. I get where I need it and fire up the chipper. I stand up - the safety buzzer goes off for ten seconds. Then it shuts itself off. It has done its job - it has warned me.

Nothing has been turned off or shut down.

I have a sneaky suspicion - there is a procedure to legitimately get around a whole lot of these safety switch "problems". Carefully re-read your Op Manual.

In particular - if your tractor is designed to operate a 3-point, PTO driven implement - the manufacturers will have a procedure built into your tractor.

Coming up on 1 year of tractor ownership. Alls well. A few things I would change but, nobody asked me!

The seat switch drives me crazy because I can稚 see the front of the loader, lean a little and it cuts out. I致e learned to deal with it.

I know this is not true but, seems to me these tractors break a lot and are dangerous. Again, I know the break a lot part is not true, the dangerous part is more than true.

Seems like 1 of my heros lost a son to a tractor accident. Merle Watson, son of Doc Watson was killed in a tractor accident so they started a music festival in his honor. It痴 in NC called Merle Fest. Attracts many of the best.

That Doc, he was a picker!
