I'm having trouble starting one of my tractors due to intermittent contact in one of the electrical connectors. I get it fixed and it quits again, so I've run some bypass wires to eliminate most of the electrical connectors. I always put the clutch in whether it's in gear or not for the 35 years that I've had it so no problems there, except for yesterday when I didn't. I have another tractor that has a seat switch, but instead of shutting off the tractor, it sets off an annoying alarm for about 10 seconds, then shuts off the alarm and all functions on the tractor still continue to operate.
I'm in favor of the safety switches as long as they don't interfere with the operation of the machine. Just be real careful and remember what could happen when a switch is bypassed. I use the bucket on my loader to inch my tractor when I'm hooking up equipment along with a 6' pry bar.
