Hey Paul,

With the great work you do, I was thinking that maybe you should consider expanding. Maybe go multinational. I can get you a great deal on a location here on the west coast of the US. You could just move about half your equipment and trade rent for the usage of the equipment when you're working at the East Canada shop.:laughing::laughing::laughing:

Those oblong punches do a great job!

If I weren't so darn cheap, I'd consider a smartphone.

Sounds like a good plan Cyril. Kind of like a home away from home :) You'd  probably work me to death though

They sure do Mat. Had a company send in some small plate today and I did some punching for them. the word is out :D

I was out for a ride on the wing last evening and as i was turing into my driveway I head the Iphone go "blurp" which meant i had a text come in. When i checked it, It was my son. The iPhone having a forward and reverse camera I snapped a picture of myself on the bike and texed him back. A few minutes later he replied "Jeeze Dad don't go texting while riding the bike".

That boy much think his old man can sure ride a bike well plus be real good at texting

4Shortz: those oblong punches will get used a lot, I'd bet. Don't get sloppy locating your holes, though, now that you have all that adjustment! Looks like you choose 5 almost all the same size- that because those sizes are what you guessed you'd be using a lot, or are larger ones too costly or not needed? Next time I have to drill and file, I'll think of your setup.

I think the Oblongs are all around the same price up to a certain size. When I was ordering the Oblongs I ordered them that way because I felt if I wanted the right fit I would need the right size hole. Not much good having a 5/8th punch for a 1/2" bolt so having the right size will work better in my opinion. The 5 that I do have goes up to 5/8th.I've never needed anything larger for my work. The ones you see pictured were around $800. taxes in. If I find that my work requires more I'll order them as I need them. I think this was a good staring point though. The funny part is that today I got a job to make four of these guards that I have pictured and guess what holes they have? Yep 1/2 oblongs and I got the 1/2" one :p

4Shorts: are we looking at an example of something that rusts while you wait! You mentioned being on a rock surrounded by salt water, and here's what happens! You shoulda painted them after you made them. Just kidding.

It's almost as bad as that around here  All jokes aside i usually zink spray parts like that after I make them. The hen poop out there is just waiting to attack anything that's not protected.

That being said I went out this morning and pressure washed mu old 17 year old truck. The was some poop under it and If I left it there I might not have a truck come Monday  I did get a little carried away. I waxed it and detailed it as well. Haven't done that in a year with the old beast. I figured it deserved it plus it was a change from just working in the shop. I say it's time well wasted! :D

Paul:

I have a 15-year old Honda Accord, 11-year old F-250, and a 9-year old JD 4200 that would love to have you detail them. Heck, I'll even throw in my wife's 5-year old Honda CRV.
