Please see interspersed.

I told her and she liked it and said to say thanks. When I take pictures she's always in the way though

I can't imagine why! ;)

Thanks Matt. Glad you enjoyed seeing the photo's. Got to watch driving around here due to the Hugh moose population. Those guys can kill.

As for whiskey. Well we got something better than that ;) Watch the video: YouTube - ICEBERG Vodka CBC Interview

I'm not big on Vodka; but I'd be willing to give it a try. I like Gin and Rum, and if the Gin is anything like Tanqueray...:licking: My hard liquor of choice is single malt Scotch.

Hum. Not a fan. OK lets have a look at this video and see if this might grab your interest. Newfoundland has a Hugh part to play in this one as well so be sure and check it out. Now I will admit that I'm not much of a drinker. Well OK I'll go so far as to say I don't drink at all BUT IF you came to Newfoundland some time Matt I have a bottle of this stuff here that you could sample ;)

Now for those who might be thinking "What the heck does this have to do with an Ironworker"? Well let me tell you that if you drink while running an Ironworker it's a pretty good bet that you'll chop your friggen fingers off  So don't do it

I'd be willing to try the Dan's Vodka too. If it were Tequila, I'd pass as I can't stand that cactus juice. Yes, I know Tequila fans...it's made from agave. I'm just glad to see Dan isn't trying to market bass juice made from his Bass-O-Matic on SNL, as that would make Tequila look good.

As for drinking and operating ironworkers and other machinery...DON'T DO IT!

I guess it's OK to leave it as it is so long it don't cause the other "good" bolts to shear off. After all it's only as strong as it's weakest link.

Show us your welder. Blue without "Miller" on it :confused2: Man we're having a great long weekend over here. Put 400 miles on the bike yesterday. Hot, sunny and lots to see. Time to head out again. Have a great day everyone.

Paul:
Love your picutres of THE ROCK. Nice to have a co-pilot that does such a good job taking the pictures.

When I lived in Canada I got as far East as Montreal and as far west as Victoria. Always wanted to do a trip to the Maritimes and get out to Newfoundland as well. Planned it several times but it never came off for one reason or another. Who knows maybe some time in the future.

Blue without "Miller":
I've uploaded a picture of me with my new welding helmet and if you look closely to the right you will see my blue mig machine in blue. You can also guess what time of year the picture was taken.:D:D
It's made in Italy and works great.
Now don't get me wrong here, there is nothing I would like better than a nice Miller mig machine but at the time this one was a great price. "Yorkiepap" on another site has the same mig he uses for aluminum as well he has a number of Miller Mig and DC/AC machines as well. He also designed a great chopsaw stand which I copied (see photo). It has proved incredibly handy for doing pipe fence. I also cut the material I used in the manlift with it.

What I am really looking for is a Miller gas powered welder like a Bobcat at a price I can afford. This will allow me to work on the rest of my pipe fence projects.

Current project however is completing repair of the John Deere Sickle mower and the building of the roll around stand for it. These things are great for cutting hay but a pain in the but to move.

Keep the picutres coming.

Glenn.

Hey Glenn love the hat :D Jeeze anyone who stick welds should have one of those that way they would have a place to store there rods while welding

That's a nice looking welding outfit. It don't Matter if miller is on it as long as it gets the job done. You did an exceptional job on that stand and the lift for the tractor sir. Very nice indeed. You do nice work. If your not proud you should be.That won't break to soon for sure.

It's been nuts on this end this week. I spent most of my time out mobile welding. Every time I take that thing on the road I never know when I'm going to make it back because there's a lot of construction going on around here and when they see the mobile welding unit they flag me down.

Just as I returned yesterday a local farm dropped off this unit that needed to be done ASAP. I couldn't get any 6" square tubing so I plated it. They also bent the cylinder so I had to do that as well. It made for a very late night BUT I got it done. Hard to believe that a big unit such as that would swing from just on 4" pin on the end. I say it was designed to break off.

Anyway to keep the bordom going here for those who might like to see some more pics I'll post more of the job I just completed. tools used are as listed.

- Ironworker :D
-Lathe
-Millermatic 252 with 75/25 gas mix with .035 wire
-Miller Spectrum 875 plasma
- Shop press
Great pics Glenn I enjoyed seeing them. Keep'em coming! Paul

Nice looking repair Paul. That tube looks like it's only about 1/4" thick. I'm kind of suprised that the manufacturer didn't use something thicker. I have to agree that it looks like it's designed to break. Just doesn't seem strong enough for the long haul.

OK, time for a learning question here. Since you had to use plate to rebuild the end of it for the pin sleeve, what is the reason for not using thicker plate for the top and bottom where the sleeve attaches?

Thanks Cyril. I'll try and answer you on this IPhone. It's going to take some to get used to this new phone:) I went with the 1/4 plate because that's what was already there and everything else on the boom was that size. I think the problem occurred when the pin came loose and tore away from the unit. The pin was only welded in a few places but when I did it I welded on the inside all the way around as well so it should be much stronger than before.

OK. Now that I'm back to the shop and NOT using the Iphone. Jeeze you need some tiny fingers to type on one of those things

Anyway now I can add a few pics for Glenn. When I went out looking for a mobile welding machine I looked at the bobcat. They are a great machine but I decided to go with the Miller Trailblazer. It's got twin generators in it plus I ordered it with the AC/DC. you can buy them just DC. These Trailblazers are know for there pipe work. I'm very pleased with the one we have.
