Tractor
Deere 1025R
As part of my tractor search I got some quotes on a Massey GC1705 (22.5hp, 18.7 PTO hp) this afternoon.

The price quote I got breaks down as follows. This is using the 0% financing (60 months).

Tractor with loader - $14300
60" belly Mower - $2000
+ 8% tax

Total OTD: $17604

Based on my online pricing using the JD and Kubota online configurators, I'm guessing I'd see similar pricing on a BX2360 or 1023E with the equivalent configuration (within a few hundred bucks anyway). Are these prices right on, or a bit high? The dealer said that that was his bottom line price, although I suspect with some competitive offers he might go a bit lower.

I also got a quote on a Kioti CS2410 for the same price (same dealer).

I would suspect the JD to be more then just a few hundred more. When I was pricing out my gc2400, the jd equivilent was 1000s of dollars more.

I got a very godo quote on a BX2360 that blew this one out of the water. Probably going Kubota unless I can get this guy to match or beat it.

/ C1705 price question #4
I went with my Massey because of the price and the roominess of the platform. Also found the Kubota to be a little noisier.

/ C1705 price question #5
The JD was several thousand more in my area when I purchased the GC2400(which is basically a GC1705) I paid 13,750 with loader and mower. And the price was comparable to the Kubota BX2360 at that time.

I purchased mine about the same time as 'bakerg'.

I think your dealer is charging you too much.

I hope i'm not hijacking a thread here but since we seem to have the same question and this is an active topic I was hoping it would be ok..

I was quoted $14,500(w/o tax) with 3.9% for 60/mo's(I chose this over the 0% as I hope to pay it off much sooner) today on a 1705 w/ 60" belly mower and FEL. Does this seem fair or should I really put my foot down and try to bargain a bit?(He said right off the bat it was the lowest price, but we all know how that goes..)

I agree. I got a quote of 13000 even on the BX, which is a way better deal. I'm going to pressure the Massey dealer a bit. The price he gave me is essentially list.

Not hijacking at all, that's why I created the thread :)

I think that's decent but you can probably talk them down a bit.

If that is through AGCO finance, that is why no wiggle room. 0% costs you in a higher price. Get a cash price, get a bank loan. It will come out cheaper.

Will is right, when I bought mine, I was quoted 16500 at 0 percent but got it for 13500 when I paid cash.:confused2:

/ C1705 price question #11
I believe that is the cash price, when I mentioned 0% he stopped in his tracks and said well the price I gave you wasn't with the 0% it was with the 2,500 cash back. So essentially the tractor is 17k then massey is giving me a $2500 rebate.

The 13,750 I gave for mine was cash. There were no rebates when I purchased mine.

Looks like I might need to wait a few weeks until I have all the cash together and restart my negotiations.

/ C1705 price question #16
It almost seems like involving the dealer in any type of financing can set you back in the good deal department, which is new to me because any time i've ever offered cash on a large purchase such as cars and such it never got me anywhere. I'm ok with it, it has just caught me off guard.

After reading about the current rebates a bit closer I believe I'd be getting a rebate of $1250 not $2500.

I got a quote from the Deere dealer for $177 more than the Kubota dealer quoted me.

The Massey dealer is almost $3000 more than both of them. The Deere is a 1023E, and the Kubota is a BX2360 so they are comparable to the 1705. Both of them are with 0% for 60 months too.

His price is freaking insane. Part of me wants to not bother with him, part of me wants to rip him one for such a high price, and part of me wants to make him try to match the other guys. Haven't decided which to do yet..

My JD dealer told me that the 1023e was pulled for some refinements(I couldn't get him to go into further detail) and wouldnt be able to get me one until at least September so I was unable to get a quote for one of those, I was told $14,686 for a bx2370 though.

I was/am really hoping to get a Massey for around 13-13.5k to help me feel good about my decision.

My JD dealer did say that he would have to get a 1023e from another dealer, but didn't have an issue doing it. He also said that the 1023e is a 2012 model - the 2013 model apparently isn't out yet (in July!).

That sounds like a good price for the size tractor. The quote I got on the Massey was insane.

My dealer told me he could do $14200 on a BX2370 so that number sounds close. May be different depending on region.

I decided to rattle the Massey guy a little bit by telling him I got a much lower quote on a Deere to see his reaction and see if he can beat it. I'm guessing he can't, but it's worth a shot...Plus fun to negotiate a little.
