America is too busy fighting another peoples war to take of their own ? With the money pissed away there , sure container ships full of overseas goods are attractive .What is sad is that we are going to be on our knees before this can be rectified .

Kevin, There is a great "divide" in our country . . . and its bigger and more significant than color or religion or even money in my opinion. I have a good friend who sits on one side of that "divide" wjhile I sit on the other. In his work he was always taught that you succeed by delegating all the work to others so you can focus on just one thing. So his hard working parents weren't a symbol of success to him. He measures people by how they look, who they live near, and how they value their image or position and how much are they trying to be accepted by the right people.

He's a college grad but never stayed in the area he studied in because it wasn't a fast enough acceptance and didn't produce enough money and didn't allow for enough delegation.

Me . . I've had a good schooling education but I rarely talk about it because my greatest lessons and wisdom came from people that others either looked down on because of their appearance or occupation or focus. I personally don't believe formal education is nearly as important as "attitude" education.

My friend considers physical work and physical tasks as "monkey work" which I do often and have all my life. My friend thinks I should hire everything done to spend all my efforts on building my business or my reputation or my process of following others success patterns.

I see our country much in this same divide. Many want what my friend wants . . An image . . Awards and acceptance . . a certain type of friends and connections. Heritage has little significance to him (them) unless its heritage of status or recognized geneology or . . . . That side of the "divide" is dependent on "keeping up" or impressing people. Calluses are not a badge of honor . . . but rather a symbol of the dreaded monkey work (we're not talking color or big wealth divides . . Its the image).

And my side which is getting ever smaller it seems . . Sees calluses (other than sports related) as a badge of value and potential wisdom. I have more assets than my friend . . .which is not impressive to me at all . . because I see money as just a tool . . and nothing more. My hands and my back and my ideas and my attention to history/heritage thinking have allowed me to be more involved with people while I still sweat keeping everything paid while helping others.

This divide is not something our founding fathers ever desired. Craftsmanship and skills were cherished and passed on . . while today far too often . . People and our Government try to consume or manipulate our way to success.

History tells us the U.S. succeeded because we had great inventiveness and natural resources . . while Asian countries sought and preserved knowledge gained over centuries and heritage was honored.. I think we need to build our future . . not buy it.

Sorry for the soapbox.

I don't know, was reading the threads on market makeup, numbers of compacts sold and looked at Wikipedia on mahindra and India. John deere and new Holland are two of the big guys in India. No wonder that a lot of the cuts are made from various international parts. I would rather have all our goods made in the United States but that isn't happening.
Continuing my original thread comments, was in cabelas today. Checking what was left. I bought a belly mower, 60inch - made by Tym for the 25hp, for $770 including the 9.5% tax. Original list was $1895 plus tax. Saved about $1300.... Would rather have a pull behind, but couldn't pass up the discount. Oh, they will pick up the tractor in about a week and install the mower and return to me at no charge....
Now for the bad, they have told all the salesmen that they will be out of a job in about 6 months, they can stay on and transition to boat and atv sales if they want..... My guy was actively recruited for this position. Was told that cabelas was going to be in this Market and was committed to it. Obviously not so much. Has been in tractor sales for a good while. Not a good time for him. Really good salesman, knows his stuff and offered me a lot of good advice. Hate to see him go through this stuff. I've been in similar situations and it is not a good time.

At axlehub. When our country was settled and founded the most valued of citizens or potential ones were agrarians.

I agree with your post whole heartedly. I was a high school drop out. Went back in my 20's and received my GD. Ultimately went broke farming by the time I was 32, I'm now going on 48. Did odd things for a few years and started building houses until the 08 bubble burst then went into selling nursery fruit plants and farming and owning property rentals and in 2015 had a gross income of well over 200k. I have zero debt. And savings and assets close to 750k. What I make after the government is done with me is mine, to spend as I see fit. I've done this by getting my hands dirty and working hard with little formal education.

When Bobcat got into and out of Tractors the writing was on the wall. Cabelas must have really given this guy blinders for him not to see what was happening. I have a cell phone and use it when the ship starts to sink. No reason to be there when they turn off the lights and lock the door.

That's pretty insulting to a lot of folks here. If "Most TBN members are backyard warriors" then maybe it's the other folks who's opinions need to be taken with a grain of salt, since they're in the minority.

No insult whatsoever. I clearly said "Nothing wrong with that at all".

Man, I am totally in accord with Axlehub... While I too am well educated, I worked over 40 years in something I never studied in school, but rather learned on the job. I have always desired to be able to build, and fix, things myself, although I could afford to buy whatever I needed, or pay someone to fix it. Now that I am over 70, some of the desire to fix things is diminished, but I hope to always to be able to do regular service work on my machines, or repair whatever needs repairing. Not re-roof a house, mind you, but that's not what we're talking about. Our country's middle class was based on skilled workers, not people pushing paper or keyboarding their income, and we seem to have lost the concept of providing training to young people in skilled trades. I for one think there should be value attached to good work, but just putting part A on part B or junking something that stops working as intended seems to have become the norm.

I agree with you and would add that the above was one of Axlehubs best posts.

You can buy every brand name product that EA sells (Their "free shipping within 1000 miles" is included in their pricing) for LESS money, ELSEWHERE!
Also: Their "free shipping" is only to your nearest trucking distribution point. (in my case a 170 mile round trip).
You should do some on line price shopping for implements!

That 6o" King Kutter finish mower that they want $1967 for sells for $1499 at my local Fleet store. LOL
