I try to be open minded about tractor brands in general and have owned several brands in the past. It does get a little tiresome to hear to hear so many posters here who are down on Deere for what ever reason. So I have noticed that quite a few Deere owners have switched to other forums to avoid this bull crap. I would prefer that everyone remain open minded and consider all brands.

Don't take it so personally, notice I have a green lawn tractor myself, nice machine and I didn't pay very much for it. I think JD takes heat is because they are usually higher priced for the same capabilities as other machines. No doubt most of their machines are good, often very good.

The "purdy green paint" I referred to was Cabelas green, NOT JD green.

John Deere was one of my considerations. But the salesman seemed completely uninterested in me. Spent less than 15 minutes with me and never offered me a test drive. Kubota guy in Chester was awesome. Low pressure. Let us both drive. Offered a very good deal. I did t like the position of the steering wheel and it had no adjustment in my price range. Kioti guy spent more than an hour with me. Tractor fit me well and was adjustable. So far he has about $45,000 of my money.

Just got a letter from Cabela's saying they're discontinuing the implements line as well when current inventory is gone.

Yep, they have sent a letter to all current owners that they are discontinuing the line, stated that they would service at any of their service centers, or make arrangements for service if needed. Stated that Woods would service the implements that they made. Btw, looks like some really good prices at the South Louisiana store. About another 10%better than what I paid..... About $12k out the door for the 25hp with loader. And a couple in Stock.

It does get a little tiresome to hear to hear so many posters here who are down on Deere for what ever reason. I think all the current popular brands are building very good tractors today. I have all Deere because they are the best represented in my locale. For me to access other brands would add at least an additional 2 hours of travel time each way, that makes it easy to understand why I chose Deere. I have also had good luck over the years with green paint too, that also helps to make a choice. I have had good service from Deere over the last 40 years and am not afraid of being chastised here because I like Deere products. In the last few years I see a double standard being applied on TBN. It is okay for a poster to knock Deere products. It is not okay for a Deere owner to question any other brand. So I have noticed that quite a few Deere owners have switched to other forums to avoid this bull crap. I would prefer that everyone remain open minded and consider all brands.

I agree with you jenkinsph...I enjoy this site a lot, but I too have noticed a lot more Deere bashing. I have my reasons for going with Deere and I have no remorse over it.

Here is how I look at it. Most TBN members are backyard warriors. They don't raise livestock nor do they grow and harvest crops. They use brush hogs to maintain their unproductive property and use grapples to clear "the" tree that fell last year. Nothing wrong with that at all. But it drives their decisions towards price and cup holder placement.

Those more focused on crops, livestock and dealer support may make decisions based on the bottom line. Deere, Case, NH, etc (and more recently Kubota) that support the AG industry have a different focus. These same TBN members that bash Deere probably are eating their dinner tonight with Deere produced crops and red meat bought at the local grocery store.

Nothing wrong with the backyard warriors on TBN, but take their comments with a grain of salt. And maybe with a grain of salt on top of their dinner produced by Deere, Case, NH, Kubota farmers.

Greetings Tom,

In my area ithere are farms everywhere. And I travel in a 150 mile radius of my area. By far and away the 2 brands I see all the time are Deere and Massey Ferguson. Old or new . . those are the two . brands.

when I moved to this small city in NC, the county seat, but surrounded by tobacco and cotton fields, which is where I am, I was amazed at all the colors. Red,Blue and Green. Lots of Red, old Massey dealers in the area. And a big New Holland dealer in town selling just to real farmers, not us mostly little guys. Their showroom was full of combine parts. Very clear who the NH audience was, they sell a lot of combines here. But then so does JD. I'm like a kid in a candy shop watching all the big machinery locally, but I'm sure this is still the junior leagues compared to the MidWest where everything seems to be supersized.

I know this is an irrelevant factor but I always thought Massey and New Holland made nice looking tractors. Looking good has nothing to do of course with running well. And it's nice to see the different colors in the fields. I think Kubota could man up their look a little, less of those odd looking lights up front on some larger models. I'm about to hit 300 hours on my Kubota and I am delighted with the tractor. Could I have liked the JD 4720 equally well? You bet.

And since I'm a waxer ,that "purdy green paint" no matter what tractor it's on would be a plus to me. My purdy orange paint is fading; Kubota paint needs more UV additives or something in it.

1000 apologies to the OP, sidetracking your good thread to the point of tractor colors, but this thread tells a lot about why we buy tractors and from whom.
Would be nice to see a pic of your new Cabela in action.

That's pretty insulting to a lot of folks here. If "Most TBN members are backyard warriors" then maybe it's the other folks who's opinions need to be taken with a grain of salt, since they're in the minority.

After all, TBN is the "Compact Tractor Portal" not the "Big Ag Tractor Portal".....just sayin'
