ss burners rust out. cast iron burners and grills are the way to go!.. >lifetime..

One would think. I bought a Charbroil 13 years ago which was all stainless and hard plastic. Stainless flame tamers over burners warranties for 10 years, cast iron burners 10 years.
At 9 years I inquired about new flame tamers as they were rotted away and was told they were under warranty yet. News to me because I though only the stainless cover and other stainless parts were covered. They sent out three new tamers under warranty which normally sell for $30+ apiece. Six months later I figured I would test the burner replacement warranty system. Taking them out I could see they were in rough shape and would have caved in in at most couple more years. They were $30 apiece also. Actually I kept one that was the best as a spare and the other two kind of crumbled in half.

My wife wants a new grill now also, but I know from having a heavy duty grill with good burners, they won't last but 5-10 years at the most, so I am keeping the one I got knowing the burners and flame tamers will last 6 years then they will be toast.

I had a few of those early on, they worked good for a few years, well worth the money IMO if you don't mind replacing them every three years.

The Ziegler Brown looks like a Q but has a lot more options available and you can cook with the hood open if you want, I always thought the Weber Q was the best until I got this.

Having said that we were at a pony club and their BBQ threw in the towel at lunchtime and we managed to cook sausages and hamburgers for 40 on the Weber Q 200 a few years ago, we staggered the groups to do it but we got there and everyone was happy.

My neighbor spent $800 on a Weber gas grill 20 years ago. After going through a mess of cheap grills, I finally bucked up and got a Weber...

I also have a cast iron smoker and recently bought a pellet smoker/grill for the lake house.

Another weber fan here. No more replacing cheap grills every few years.

I am assuming it is universal but Weber offer a lifetime warranty on all their range here, I heard of a timber handle breaking on an old kettle BBQ and they replaced it with a complete new handle.
I think the same applies to the grills on the Q if they break.
Our old Q has 'bald' patches where the finish has flaked off but it still works as well as it did but I could never get a good sear on a steak despite pre heating for 15 minutes.

I read most of your requests and didn't see anything about it needing to be inexpensive, SO...

This sounds like the ultimate grill for your needs, and mine:laughing:, so, if you buy one, buy two since I showed it to ya.

No idea how to find everything that's on your wife's list. Probably best to just let her pick it out so you wont have to hear about getting the wrong one.

My wife also wants a gas grill so she can cook quickly in the winter months when it's cold out. We have a few requirements, but nothing too special. What I've learned by reading reviews and looking at what's available at the local stores, is Weber is the gold standard. They cost more too, and I'm not sure if it's worth the cost or not. I did find some at Home Depot that I really liked that I'm leaning towards.

One of the things that I read over and over again in the online reviews was that the ceramic coated cast iron grills on the grill tend to flake off and get into your food. For me, I want stainless steel grilling grills. I think they will be easier to replace, and more sanitary.

The other big issue for me is that it has four wheels. It has to be easy to move around from the storage area, to the cooking area. With the space that I have available, this is a top priority for me.

Webers are pricey but worth it IMHO. The "wear" parts are available locally and they just seem to last longer than the $200 grills. I have a 6 burner Summit (used once or twice a year for big gatherings...a real gas hog) and a newer 3 burner Genesis. I had to search hard for one without a side burner (never use it and I find them to be wasp magnets). I have rotisserie kits for each. They also make a more budget friendly model but sitting side by side you'll notice the difference in materials.

Wilmington Grill

Half Griddle Kit

Side Burner

Could wait for you to make one! Gonna hold off until I see a youtube video of p-nut cooking up a bunch of burgers for your EA company picnic :)

Those look nice but no price on website anywhere I saw. Must be one of those things where if you gotta ask how much it costs, you can't afford it :)

Weber Q - some look to have the griddle insert as part of the side table. To me, that would be same as half grate, half griddle. But from the pics, they all look really small. Even the 3200 which seems to be largest (that i saw online anywhere at least), looks really small. Typically, just cooking for the 2 of us so no big deal, but if you did have a gathering, would grill size be an issue?

Of course with current large char-broil & 4 burners, even when it was brand new, it's not as big as it looks......Sure the grate has a lot of surface area, but the heat is so uneven, never put anything around the edges. So I guess if the Q was pretty even no matter where you placed something it would effectively be similar in size????

Ha, I wouldn't put it past Ted.

He is a huge fan of grilling and grills. Just as our customers demand the best when shopping for grapples and attachments, Ted demands the best in grills. Wilmington has been his grill of choice for many years!
I think they start at around $1,500, but they're completely stainless and should last for-eva.

This one is sitting outside of my office for me to walk by every day! hmmmm

I've had my NC Made Holland Grill for 12+ years and it is going strong, but if/when I replace it, I'll be for another Holland or a Wilmington.
Yeah, I love some grillin, too!

I'm surprised the no one has mentioned the ceramic grill/smokers.I was a big Weber fan for years then got a Charbroil off set smoker that I really liked but it took a lot of babysitting. One year, when I was still fishing, I read, on a fishing forum, about the Big Green Egg. We were having a really great year for Albacore Tuna and I was looking for different smoking options. Well after doing a ton of reading I bit the bullet and bought a large BGE and never looked back.I later bought a medium BGE from a guy that had won it at a drawing someplace.
The ceramics, and there are many brands, are a new rendition of the old Asian Kamado cookers that were made of clay so pretty low temperature. I use mine for everything from grilling fish, steaks, chicken or about any meat to baking bread and cheesecake. They are an amazing pizza oven. They are unsurpassed for low and slow smoking of pork butts or briskets.I have done 20 hour cooks on one load of charcoal and had fuel left for 2 or 3 cooks later.
They burn lump charcoal so are a little messy and more work but the difference in quality of food is well worth it.
My youngest son had tried every thing from Weber to Blackstone to the pellet burners and thought they were ok but he bumped into a deal on an extra large BGE and grabbed it.He kept one of the old grills to store his tools and accessories in then put the rest out on the curb.
Ceramic fans are a little snobbish and say gas burners are a half step above a microwave. Different strokes for different folks,I hope you find something that you and your wife will be happy with.

I have an all Stainless Rec Tec (RT-700 Bull) and it's some of the best money I've ever spent. I grill or smoke all the time. Average 3 to 4 days a week since I bought it. Never gets old.

I have sear kit and could also buy a griddle kit for it, but I haven't tried to cook eggs on it yet, but smoked eggs do sound great. I have grill matts for veggies or fish whatever that could easily do bacon or whatever else.

I open the App on my phone when I walk out of the grocery store with my meat of choice for the day, turn the grill on and set the temp that I want to cook at, and by the time I get home, the grill is at the set temp and immediately ready to cook. The food is crazy good. I even cook frozen pizzas on it regularly and the smoke on the pizza takes it over the top.

I bought the 144 lb. "Big Green Egg" (Japanese did not call it that) in Japan in 1967.
Flew it back to my USN base in Spain (I was the pilot), then took it back to the USA for a total of 20+ years use.
The clay finally got brittle, and I reluctantly threw it away.
I miss it ! Absolutely the best cooker I have ever owned.
Paid $35 in 1967, with weatherproof vinyl cover, and wheeled stand (and free airfreight).
I am astounded at the "Big Green Egg" prices today.
Guess I'll stick with my Weber, as a second best.

Couple years ago I was at Lowes when they where getting rid of their Summer stuff and putting what was left on sale. I bought the last Oklahoma Joes BBQ they had for less then half price of what it was listed for before the sale. It's been an awesome grill. Very heavy duty and big enough for the largest parties. I saw that they also sell a combination gas grill and briquettes grill that looks heavy duty that I might have been interested if I didn't already have the one I have.
