He could always use it for cracking lots of walnuts. I thought counter weight but it's too small for that.

The more I look at it... could it be an older style counter-weight? Or implement weight? (TBNers are always asking about how to weigh their implements down)

It definitely 'fits' into something.

Google only tries to match the photo, not the object. One of the same subject but a different angle or background color won't be a match.
