carrying chains, saws, gas, commonly used tools without a bucket?

Interesting idea on rope container, Tchamp. The old atv tire I use has a coil of 120’ of 3/8” wire rope. I cut the bead off one side and couple of holesaw drain hole thru tread. Easy to transport, deploy and store.

Sounds like a good idea for wire rope but i dont fet into anything that i need something that heavy.

Other than Smokeydog's method for carrying wire rope, I can't recall any other members even posting about how to carry it. I have 100' of 3/8 wire cable that I have been using from time to time, but I find it awkward to transport. It makes me envious of the guys who have real forestry winches who can just reel in or out 200-300' of cable as needed.

Be sure to use an appropriate mount to carry a fire extinguisher on a tractor. Attached with the square U-bolts to ROPS. From Amazon.

How are you guys carrying chains, chainsaws, gas/oil, etc? I see a couple of posts where chainsaws are being carried on top of the engine cover and a PT is towing a trailer, but what are the other ways you guys are using to at least carry a chain and saw from time to time?

The box on top carries the saw fuel and oil, and other tools like files hammer and wedges. The box underneath carries the chains with just the tops hooked above. It's nice having the grapple on the front for moving logs, just enough counterweight in back with the box blade, tools in the wood box's above, and chains accessible yet out of the way.

Woods work needs to carry tools safely. Any hook to carry a 5 gallon bucket helps too. All tractors could use a chain box.

I really should make up a mount for the PeeVee. I usually just shove it into the FEL cross tube. And then keep an eye on it.
That tire, as a "catch all" is interesting. How did you come on to that?

Think what I bought was Amerex 809 brand. Both tractors, farm truck and RV in 2017. Now I see Amazon has many more choices like Amazon.com Watch their pricing as they can really drop sometimes.

Always being brushed by trees when mowing it has withstood abuse. Added a little rubber washer to the pull pin to secure the handle pull pin.

On this forum someone had posted a recall notice from Kidde. I had 4 10# fire extinguishers 20-30 years old, taken out of service because the gauge had fallen out of the green. Contacted Kidde, sent UPS to pick them up and drop off 4 new all metal valve handle ones.

We practiced fire extinguisher training where I worked. With a little training, quick action and working equipment you can stop a little fire from becoming a catastrophe. With tractors working in dust, hay, spilled fuel, dry woods, barns, sheds, old vehicles just makes since to have a little extra protection. Never needed to use one but have neighbors that have lost tractors and barns that wish they were better prepared.

Looks like something you'd see at a pro garden center or nursery.

I needed to move some rock for a project. Hate the sound of rock clanging when thrown in a metal bucket. Built a wooden box for my grapple on the Kubota so I can just lay the wood box in the grapple when needed which eliminates the noise and avoids having to change SSQA implements.

Here's a picture. When I need to mix concrete, the bed of my truck is about the right height to load it into the mixer without lifting the bag. After mixing, I dump it out the other side into a plastic mixing tub inside the wooden insert on my grapple.

While my grapple would also work for carrying chainsaws, etc., if I were to use it on my Power Trac, my intentions are to fabricate a different style of log puller for the Power Trac. So I'm trying to figure out how to carry my chainsaw, etc, on the body of the Power Trac.

But as a general tractor carryall, I like what you've done, Runner.

Thanks. The "seat/workbench" and sideboards are removable. I also use plywood sides to haul bulk material (wood chips/grass clippings/leaves) from time to time. There is also a 2" receiver hitch in case I want to use it on the rear 3-point and pull a trailer behind or need to use a D-ring on the front to pull a tree down.

My method is similar to BnRidge's method.

I purchased a slightly damaged aluminum ATV box and mounted it above my box blade.

It stores just about everything I'm needing on my property.

A shelf below the box is for storage of chains.

Tell me about how you made your rear mount grapple. Looks like a section of Harbor Freight receiver tube was used? Where did you get your tongs? I plan on making something similar to attach to a front mount SSQA attachment plate.

Many years ago I purchased it and it had 3 rows of teeth on each side.

I added another 7 rows of teeth on each side.

Yes the 2" hitch extensions came from HF.

Can't remember if they sold 18" extensions complete or I made them up.

When I get back to my computer I'll add a few pictures of using the grapple with the FEL

I'm using my phone right new.

2manyrocks, Here's a few pictures of processing 18' firewood logs.

This grapple works by using the weight of the log for pinching it with the teeth.

I've since reinforced the top of the bucket because there was a slight flexing to the top edge when picking up 12" logs and larger.
