I have signed up on your new forum, but it will not let me post anything. I keep getting the message: The host you are trying to send the input from is not a valid host. It mentions a UBB code but I do not have a clue what that is. Can you enlighten me please? Thanks!

Copy and paste the error, and either post it or e-mail it to me.

Ok, this problem should be fixed now...

You may need to make an adjustment to your Norton Internet Security Software. I believe this is included with Windows XP.

For Norton Internet Security:

1. Open Norton Internet Security.
2. Click Options.
3. Click Internet Security (or Personal Firewall).
4. Click Advanced Options.
5. Click the Web tab.
6. Click Add Site. A new site/domain box appears.
7. Enter the url of the site that you want to receive the referrer information (www.countrybynet.com) and click OK. That site name appears in the left frame of the Advanced Options window.
8. Click the name of the new site.
9. Click the Privacy tab.
10. Check the "Use these rules for..." box.
11. Change the Referrer from "Block" to "Allow."
12. Click Apply, and then click OK.
13. Click OK to close the Options window.

For ZoneAlarm Pro 3.0:
1. Begin at ZoneAlarm Pro Control Center (if ZAP is minimized to tray, simply right click on the "ZA" symbol and choose "Restore ZoneAlarm Pro Control Center".)
2. From left-hand column, choose "Privacy" (below "Alerts & Logs" and above "Email Protection".)
3. Click menu tab that says "Site List" (next to "Main", under "Help", in right-hand corner.)
4. Click on "Add" button on bottom right corner of Control Center (above "Options".)
5. A box pops up that says "Add sites to your privacy list by entering the URL below" and then asks for "URL".
Type in the URL for the site like: www.countrybynet.com
6. Click "OK".
7. Locate the site you just entered in the list of sites and right click anywhere on that line. You are given the choice of "Remove" and "Options". Choose "Options".
8. You are given the options for the site you just entered. Under the "Cookies" menu, go to the "3rd Party Cookies" section. Uncheck "Remove Private Header Information". Click "Apply" at bottom. Click "OK" at bottom.
If you actually made it through, you should now be able to post at the site you entered without having to disable ZAP or getting the "invalid host" error.

Whoa!!!/w3tcompact/icons/shocked.gif

Both Karen and I are on computers hooked up to the NY State computer system. We are not in the same building, so we can't compare notes. We have no idea about the internet security system, but I have no problems on CBN and she does, while we're both on exactly the same system.

She just e-mailed you explaining her problem.

I know you'll figure it out!

Thanks, in advance for your help!

Works fine now thanks M.

By the way, I have Norton (latest version) and have no worries.

Cheers

Rich....

Reason you and Karen may have different experiences in accessing CBN from work is the way your agencies have set up the internet access preferences on your respective building servers. I don't believe the NYS computer system is centralized for all agencies and buildings. Each agency has their own respective ISB team that sets up internet access preferences; they operate by different guidelines. You and Karen, working for the same agency, but located in different buildings may have different servers and different ISB teams working off of different internet access guidelines.

For me, I used to be able to access TBN at work at the NYSDOT. Now, the powers that be are becoming very restrictive trying to cull out all unauthorized site accesses and they've locked me out from accessing TBN. I now have to justify TBN site access and with the work I do I don't know how I correlate my transportation planning work with tractors /w3tcompact/icons/grin.gif, so for the time being I'm still locked out of accessing TBN at work.

Bob:

Start a thread on TBN called "Transportation Planning" - I'll bet you'll find a number of other TBN members in your field who will be glad to exchange information on the subject - and some who are not in your field who will be glad to offer input. Pretty soon the thread will wander off track but it will still amass hundreds of posts. You can then show "the powers that be" the number of posts to that thread as justification for restoring TBN access. /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

I'm not so sure about this Bill. My agency's inspector general is pretty tough. It's going to be tough to justify the need to spend several hours a day on TBN by showing the postings of one discussion thread on Transportation Planning. But, you know I'm thinking on this and curious as to where the discussion will really go. /w3tcompact/icons/grin.gif
