Kubota L3719 HST with LA681 loader
What size/grade chains do I need to trailer my Kubota L3710 HST + FEL? It should be about 5,000# +/-. I just picked up a 16', 10K, CAM Superline Warrior trailer. No rush, but I want to be prepared when needed.

It's overkill for what you are hauling but I would go with 5/16" grade 70 chains, that way you are covered for future projects.

That’s the same I would do. There’s not much cost or weight savings going with a smaller chain so I don’t see any good reason to use smaller chain. And you won’t hurt that chain pulling with the tractor.

Get 5/16” chain and use 3/8” binders. That way, if you ever need to secure more weight you just need heavier chain.

Legal requirements is a WLL of at least half the actual load weight. You only need 2,500 lbs of securement. Four 1k ratchet straps is more than adequate.

Grade 70 1/4” chain has a WLL of 3,150. Two 1/4” G70 chains would be much more than your entire load.

I prefer to have more securement than required and only like having to run as few individual pieces as possible, for the most options.

Most binders cover 2 sizes. 5/16-3/8 binders would be fine. I don’t advise using 3/8-1/2 binders. I’ve done it and it works but the hooks are really too big.

I prefer the ease of use of ratchet straps to chains & binders. But after cutting a 15k rated strap on half with a very dull bumper I moved to something safer. Steel can cut nylon surprisingly quick but won't cut chain. I run 5/16" grade 70 & ratcheting binders. I have some of the over center binders but only use them if I'm stuffing a 2nd impliment on.

16' of trailer is going to be a bit tight for a Grand if you have a loader or impliment on. My 22' trailer can be tight for my L4060, loader & an impliment. You also need room to ballance things properly.

The part about having enough trailer to balance the tongue weight by moving the load fore or aft is often overlooked.
