Stop supporting CR a long time ago.. only reason they like GM now after so long of hating them is that they are gov'ment owned..

Doesn't hurt me. Just gets old. Ford would have taken the same deal if they hadn't already borrowed billions in bank loans.

The point here, as we agreed on before, is that they could borrow it AND had the foresight too borrow it.

I think a lot of that is your personal opinion. I disagree with corrosion resistance, comfort, asistance after warranty. The Ford has the best brakes of any 1/2 ton. The GM out powers the Ford by a small amount. I would like to see some real world numbers on the fuel economy of the GM. A GM truck is like 300lbs lighter than a Ford. The GM does lead in oil consumption.

Seriously look under a Ford and GM that are 5-8 yrs old and have 100k on them. Now try to separate a ball joint, exhaust fitting, remove y-pipe bolts, remove control arm bolts... The Ford nearly always has more rust.

Until the EcoBoost or 6.2 came out the GM trucks out powered the Fords since '07 with the 6.2 and earlier with the 6.0.

Yes the GM is lighter than the Ford because they shed weight. Must be because they are 2 generations behind Ford.

Ford leads in blowing plugs out. Head gaskets leaking. How's about Diesel engine failures? Or the 4.0 SOHC.

They've all made junk and good.

I guess you have not replaced a brake line on a 5 years old GM. How about the brake rotors rusting up between the fins on a GM.

GM leads in instrument clustet failures, busted flex plates, holes in the transfer case, electrical problems, bearing hub assembly failures just to name a few.

No. I have. Ford rotors rust just the same. GM clusters are junk. The '97-03 Ford is hardly any better.

GM electrical is terrible. Ford is also. Until you've spent time deep in a Honda electrical manual you don't realize just how stupid domestic electrical systems are.

I'm not here to say that GM trucks are the be all, end all. Just saying that the Ford trucks certainly aren't either. None of the current crop of trucks isn't a throw away vehicle. What are people gonna do when their GEM module fails on their whatever year Explorer and it's one of 15 versions and it hasn't been available for 5 yrs. Wayyyy too much electrical JUNK on them. I say this as a tech that is Honda Master certified and had 3 of 4 of my Ford certifications. I have to work on the crap.

They are all junk right now.
Soo, what do we take away from all this.. RAM wins!! :cool2:

LOL..

Why did Ford, poorly, try to copy it with the Explorer Sport Trac then?

Since they both came out at the same time, I doubt they did copy... but the Ford looked a whole heckuva lot better :)

Happy I bought a Tundra. Great customer service, stand behind their product. No dog in this fight I guess. Owned both Fords and Chevys- no major complaints. I will say so far I am more impressed with the Tundra as a whole package.

I'm not sure I'd be so quick to prop up GM as one who treats their customers all that great. I have owned several GM trucks and bought my mother an '08 Malibu and while they have given decent service at times, they have also been a huge pain in the rear to deal with when it comes to warranty work. Case in point, the fuel sensor in the gas tank of my mom's Malibu failed. Took it in and got it fixed. 3 months later same thing. This time they hemmed and hawed about "she must be putting in bad gas, we're going to have to investigate". Um no you just build your cars with cheap Chinese crap parts and THAT'S why it failed twice. They had to send some rep to review the case and finally decide to warranty it. In other words they went around their elbow to get to their head and wasted time trying to get out of fixing the problem. Yeah, let's blame the 65 year old woman for our cheap parts. Her radio failed at 49,000 miles and they wouldn't warranty that because the 3/36,000 was up. Fine, but don't expect me to ever trust your junk electronics anymore if your radio only last for 49,000 miles. Did I mention the interior lights began to burn out one by one in the same 49,000 mile time frame? I got sick of that car and told her I was going to buy her something else, just go pick out what you want and I'll write the check as long as it wasn't a GM. She chose a Camry. I won't even get into the horror stories of what GM put friends of mine through with stuff failing like ball joints, dashboard gauges completely failing, etc. No auto manufacturer is perfect, but I will say that Toyota did step up with their frame buy back program on the 1st gen Tacomas and offered owners 150% of Kelly Blue Book value or warranty their replaced frame for 10 years while giving the customer a loaner vehicle. You also had to pull teeth to get GM to loan you a vehicle while yours was being worked on, but Toyota has offered me a vehicle to drive everytime I've taken mine in for service. Ford even did that to my mother when she owned 3 Crown Victorias. I'm just glad my mother drives a car that I know is going to be stone reliable and is with a company that will make it right if she ever needs it. GM might have made out like a bandit with our tax dollars, but they didn't get a dime from me willingly when it came time to buy myself a new truck or my mom a new car. They weren't even in consideration.

Too many "ifs" in that statement. I know GM fanboys (not you, but GM fanboys I know) can't STAND to hear anyone talk about the bailout, government motors, etc. Their response is all the same "it happened, move on, forget about it!" or "but, but, but the banks got help too!". They want it to go away so bad they can't stand it. The simple fact is it's been what, 4 years now and it's STILL being talked about by many. It's not going away anytime soon. They made their bed, now they're having to sleep in it. The only way GM will overcome the stigma is to build top notch vehicles. They have a few decent ones out, but nothing I'd consider buying when the competition is equal or better...and most aren't as overpriced as GM with their new "let's price everything high as the sky" price strategy I'm seeing. They're way behind in the mid-size car market, way behind in the luxury car market (not many people are gonna take home a Cadillac over a BMW, Lexus or MB), about equal in the truck market...for now anyways, and not sure what they rate in the compact and sub compact market.
