In all honesty, the only real step up in build quality I think is to get the equivalent Kubota which is a 4760 with cab and 1055 loader...and that is not $10k more...it's nearly double the price.

You’re looking at the grand Ls which are premium in features and price. You should check the LX or MX cab prices.

The LX is so small and has 1/2 the lift capability of the T494, not really apples to apples...the 3 point doesn't look like it can support anything.

Go MX then. The 5400 and 6000 both have the LA1055 loader.

I could offer a suggestion; I imagine you can guess at it, however. 🤣

I’ve had mine for two years now (open station model). I really like it and it’s been trouble free. It has all of the basic features that are important for operating, but not extra frills. Of course the cab models have more deluxe features. I especially like the telescoping lower links on the 3ph and the overall stability of this machine. It feels planted when doing loader work and on unlevel ground. The 5400 and 6000 are pretty much the same except for engine hp. There are times when I wish I had bought the cabbed model, but then I do mowing between the trees and remember why I bought the open station. One negative is some of the standard features that you have on your TYM such as rear remotes are add on options on the Kubota.

I did some price checking...still pretty expensive compared to the T494..no free loader like LS etc...way more HP so really in a higher class of machine. Like you say rear remotes cost more, loader costs more, no rear 3 pt control outside the cab...i do like that it is not turbo charged though.

Even the used ones cost more than the T494 new...guess that should tell me something :)

The MX6000 is turbocharged, not sure about the 5400. At my high elevation turbos are a big plus. Yes they are pricey, but I think the MX line is still cheaper than the grand L series in similar size/hp. It’s your money, so only you can decide. I made the choice because I only have JD, Kubota, and Mahindra within 100 miles. And the Mahindra dealer has no serious shop facilities if repairs are needed. I also watched my neighbor go through the parts search frustration with his Montana tractor. A good machine, but no readily available parts. I want to be able to get parts in a reasonable time and the same with service if needed.

The issue here is that the part is not for these tractors. It is an alternate part they are trying. Ergo, the OEM doesn't have some big inventory of the part.

TYM is building a new facility in Georgia that will resolve some parts availability issues. This one is a one-off caused by a bad dealer in Iowa and a workaround part.

The original dealer should have either swapped out the unit or let him swap for a 4820.
From the sound of it, seems more than a one off. Seems like it might be a bad batch, which could spell trouble for many until TYM steps up and gets some parts flowing.
