Any recommendation on the ‘blue rope’?
Never used the blue rope, only the cable. As much as I use it, winching a log any distance is not one of the reason that I would use it for.

Having a long cable attached to a vehicle (4x4) and the log to drag out, is the way to go. Might have to lay a log or two over the edge. :2cents:

Winching anything a long distance is not my ideal use for a come along.

I'd second the idea of hanging a snatch block in a tree just high enough so that you get a straight pull from the fallen log to the snatch block with some elevation so as to lift the log up a bit as its pulled to keep it from digging in. You can even use multiple blocks to keep the cable off the ground and finally to a vehicle to provide pulling power.

Repositioning the cables and snatch blocks, and tow vehicle multiple times will still be way less work than cranking the lever on a come along or hand winch.

The few times I've done it, I was pleasantly surprised how well it went with my Suburban, one snatch block, and a 100' cable.

I kept myself in firewood for years with a Jeep, 100ft of 3/8 cable, and a couple of 50ft ones. Had a couple of snatch blocks, too.

When pulling the logs, stay in first gear and ease into it....

i have some fairly large logs on the ground on a downhill slope. the slope is steep. i want to pull them up to where i can cut them and use them for firewood. i have no tractor here to work with. so will a come along do this? any come along recommendations?

Where are the pictures? Haven't read the whole thing yet so maybe in here later.
