I'd like to bump this thread with hopes of finding more reviews on this product, specifically the W.R. Long CR10 for sub-60hp tractors.

W.R. Long, Inc. | Comfort Ride

I'm taking on the long-term project of turning roughly 7 acres of mountainside hardwood forest into a field using my Mahinda 4540 (gear-drive, 41hp machine). I do quite a bit of FEL work over rough ground, sometimes digging and moving material and sometimes traversing rough logging trails with a set of pallet forks mounted up front. Even while traveling at cautiously low speeds I can see and sense the stress exerted on the FEL from bouncing while traveling over rough terrain.

I just stumbled across this kit on W.R. Long's website and it seems like something my tractor could definitely benefit from. Has anyone installed or used this kit recently? What're your thoughts on it for my application?

Thanks in advance.

I don't have the WR Long kit but I can only recommend getting a soft ride, whatever brand it's available. It's really a game changer on the ride of the tractor with a loader.

I built my own with an accumulator I happen to have laying around, while the pressure of the nitrogen on mine is a bit too high which makes it work better with a load on the bucket or forks, it's still a major difference.

Sometime I ago, I had to move about 10 buckets or so of soil from one point to another about 600 years away, through a rough field and a bit of paved road. I did one run with the accumulator Off and the rest of the runs with the accumulator On. I could almost fly through the field and could easily tell that the tractor wasn't getting hard hits at all on the bumps.

I, just now, visited the WR Long web site. I could find no listing, on the site, for their Comfort Ride system. I wonder if they still sell this product.

Hydro pneumatic accumulators have been of forklifts for decades and it a good product but I believe you could fab up your own with in stock accumulators from a company like Motion Industries. for less. I don't particularly like the size and volume of the Long offering.

Though it's never been an issue with me, it is a worthwhile accessory to mitigate loader bounce when traversing rough terrain.

I have had the CR10 installed on my Loader since April 2018. It has been faultless. Your application is exactly what this damper was designed for.

Modified and installed a Kubota LA1953 soft ride on my M59. Makes a significant difference transporting FEL loads over rough terrain. 10,000psi gauge shows how bump energy is actively dampen. Improves ride and lessens stress on tractor. Impressive accessory. Highly recommend how ever you can source one. Only valve out for some precision fork lift work.

Bought NOS kit on eBay $200. Required custom refit.

Bought a smaller rated NOS McCormick soft ride system (-$25) to use on the B26. This looks very similar to the WR long type. Two accumulator bulbs but may just try one. Haven’t installed yet but on the to do list.

What's it cost?

The suggested retail price of the CR10 in 2018 was $425 and the suggested retail price of the CR20 was $475.

Dealer installation not included. My Kubota dealer installed for $100.

I don't follow the need for 2 Nitrogen charged pressure vessels unless they did that because of space constraints. Just remember they have to be pre charged with Nitrogen at about 80% of the anticipated highest working pressure and need to be able to be taken out of the hydraulic circuit for precision loading or unloading operations. Can be mounted in any position just about anywhere on the loader frame.
