I had a telehandler, albeit not a compact one. Dynalift with 8000# capacity. I miss the reach, but that is about all.
All the pluses of the handler you mention apply to a compact wheel loader as well. That is what I have now, and I just love it! I can see my forks and had a low profile bucket built where I can see the cutting edge.
I thought I would miss the frame levelling on the handler for aligning pallet forks but I don't seem to miss that either. I had the multi mode steering on ours and it never could drive down the road in a straight line which was annoying.
My Dad and I once dug a stone the size of a volkswagon out of the middle of a field with the forks on the handler. I don't think my Kubota R510 could have lifted that stone though!
