Compact telehandler

That makes me want one. A couple of weeks ago in a town near me I saw a guy that had a machine very similar to yours maybe even the same one but I didn't get a look at the model. He had it loaded on equipment trailer being pulled behind a F2 50. The trailer wasn't large enough to allow the machine to be placed correctly and the tongue weight was insane. It had completely bottomed out the F2 50. I have a feeling those machines are much heavier than they look and I don't think he was going to make it very far the way he had it loaded. Cool thing is if he did have a problem he could always just pick up the truck with the Tele handler and head home.

Yep, small but heavy. About 11,000 pounds with the 370 pound stump bucket, on the 22' trailer.

The steel counterweight is the orange casting on the back.

Very interesting thread.
How do you use a mower or other powered attachment on the v417? Is there a way to control engine speed other than the foot throttle? I don't find anything about it in the operators manual.

My dealer told me they no longer make the v417 and are coming with a new model.

No, it is a linked system, the foot pedal controls the travel speed and the engine RPM.

My dealer told me they no longer make the v417 and are coming with a new model.

I checked last December and was told by the district sales rep that I could order one, but I noticed that you can't do a "Build and Quote" on the Website any more. I haven't seen or heard about a new model. Would hope they would put bigger wheels and R1 ag tires on it.

I usually mowed in low range, but if I was in heavy brush I used "Creep Mode", here is a snip from the Website:

I like having the brush hog out front. Mowing a silted in creek in this picture. If I were to drive forward 5 feet, the front wheels would sink to the axle.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. That is definitely one of the coolest set ups ever. I'm jealous.

I will have to read my manual more closely I guess but it don't seem to me the mower would run fast enough. I don't understand creep mode, sounds like it would be to slow for most mowing.

I just got my new v417 and so far have used it only with a grapple and loved it! The dealer I talked to didn't know much about the new model coming but said they will have a Doosan engine instead of Kabota. Main reason I wanted one now. I'm guessing they will add a power Bobtach, offer a higher capacity pump add a way to use a hand throttle for mowing, snow blowing & etc. and maybe a camera option.

I'm hoping you will keep this thread going by posting any new uses you come up with and thanks for the rapid response to my question.

By the way I traded a nearly new S750 skid loader in on this V417 and have used it more in one day than I used the skid in all the time I had it!

The brush hog is made for standard flow, 15-25 GPM: Grace Manufacturing | Home of the Tree Terminator

I rarely had to use creep mode, just low range. I think creep mode has the same top speed as low range, but don't know for sure.

Please start a thread on your V417, I would like to see pictures of one that isn't beat up and dirty like mine.

I may try to start a thread, but I've got to figure out how first and it's a busy time of year for me. I thought I was doing good just to get a message on here.

My V 417 don't look much cleaner than yours and by the time I get some pictures and get them posted it will probably look worse! Thanks for your help.

The wind broke a large branch off of a dead oak tree by the dog pen. It landed next to a small dead tree that needs to come out.

Had the Gorilla Grapple on, so put the middle tine against the trunk and extended the boom a little.

Retracted the boom and popped the roots out.

Picked up the branch and the tree, took them to the burn pile.

Dropped them and compressed the pile. Notice that the front wheel is off the ground.

You get a lot of use out of the BobCats.

Having a cab must be nice. My only Cab is on my old excavator, and the Air conditioner is pretty useless in the sun when it's over 80F outside. running the air makes the machine oveheat if worked hard. my two tractors are open station.

Both my my tractors will lift near double what similar sized typical Ag tractors can lift and the L39 Back hoe will do a lot of smaller work with ease, so my excavator as not gotten much use.

You do not to have much in the line of boulders and rocks, ledge etc. so the digging must be easy. I guess you get along without an excavator. For my use the excavator is used mostly now for logging firewood, and the occasional 2 ton plus rock or larger stump, but when I was building , clearing and pond building, it saw hundreds of hours per year of use.

Haven't posted any pictures of my heavy duty Pin Top Forks in this thread. I bought them from a fork lift repair shop in Oklahoma city many years ago to use on the three point hitch on my tractor.

They are 42 inches long. The SSQA frame was built six years ago by GC Mfg, north of El Reno, OK. The rod is from a hydraulic cylinder. It was bent, got it from a hydraulic shop that was making hoses for me. Straightened it in my hydraulic press.

Had an old worn out floor jack, stripped it to the frame. It had a bad castor, removed it, mounted the good castor on some angle iron and put it in the middle. Cut slots in a piece of tubing, used some all thread, with small tubing and made a a fork dolly:

After I got the Versahandler, I have always wanted a set of six foot long forks for it. Not needed, just wanted.

Guess what showed up almost six years later, on eBay at a price that I couldn't resist?

They also fit the storage dolly :thumbsup:

Glad to see you are still at it! I would like to pester you with a couple more questions if you don't mind? I am thinking of getting a mower for my v417 and was wondering how you settled on the Tree Terminator you purchased, and you're still happy with it or if you would rather have one without the wheel out front?

I have dealers locally for a couple other brands but don't know where there is a dealer for the Tree Terminator.

Also, is there a way to lock the hydraulic power on so the mower runs all the time or do you have to hold the switch while mowing? Can't find anything on manual. I'm still having trouble understanding how a mower will work very good with no throttle.

I got it because of the wheel out front. Still happy with it.:thumbsup:

Yes, push the "AUX HYD" button on the dash, push and hold the "Aux Hyd Control" on the joystick up or down, depending on which direction you want it to rotate, push the button on the bottom of the joystick and release both.

I'm still having trouble understanding how a mower will work very good with no throttle.

I don't understand it, but it works. Use work mode for heavy brush and creep mode for better ground speed control.

Here is a job from last June. A large oak branch broke off and was jammed in the trees. The white arrow shows the broken end hung up in a tree. The black arrow shows where a fork of the branch is behind a tree, so the branch can't be pulled out of the woods.

Used the cordless reciprocal saw to cut off the small forked branch:
